For those of you wondering I was able to squeeze 50” of corner flex outta this one with mechanical steering 😜... not bad at all!

UMHW is gaining more and more popularity lately and I am finding myself skinning a lot of skid plates with this material for the ultimate protection and anti-abrasive finish for that nice slick belly on a rig! It’s a LOT of extra work but in the end I think it pays for itself both with additional protection and performance! This set turned out awesome!

Because all the details matter… I’ve never done a build without cover-up boxes over the rear shock towers and this build is no different. Today was all in he details and finalizing interior features to keep this JLU what it’s meant to be-NICE.
Utilizing a nice custom cross-over tube to provide maximum support and rigidity to these massive @rpm_steering towers and then finishing things off cleanly with a completely isolated interior setup is what sets a good build apart from a great build- because who wants water, dust, and exhaust in your JL cab anyhow?
This cross brace is a nice stout 1.75” size with risers so the customer doesn’t loose corral cargo area and the bar is stout enough to mount accessories like a powertank or gear to.

This most definitely wasn’t the cleanest run up #devilshottub but my first time so I was happy to climb out without big problems! I finally was feeling confident enough and trusted the rig could do what it was built to do.
There’s a couple things to note here:
1) the rig had more than enough power to rocket 🚀 out of that hole, it was my confidence that throttled back midway knowing in the back of my mind things can get sideways in a hurry.
2) At the mid point I realized I wasn’t making it from pure horsepower I let the rig settle and trusted it to do what I knew it could-crawl and stay stable. This was about my 4th attempt feeling out the right line so I wouldn’t end up on my lid
3) You’ll see @joe.a.morton on the side coaching me through the sketchiness and the whole crew providing that confidence and encouragement to stay with it and let the tires grip- our crew somehow always knows when to shut up, and when to step up for each other.
4) This was the first day out on the fresh #maxxistreps and things definitely would have went easier had the edges been worn down and broke-in some.

Long story short- run with a crew that encourages you and even provides the right amount of peer pressure to get you out of your comfort zone. I built a rig that can do this stuff, just getting more and more comfortable behind the wheel even when things get sketchy is what makes you a better driver.

Just Chris and I remained today so we ran out to the Pickle and ran it backwards and forwards. Chill morning hanging out and playing around.
We decided to leave the chaos, influencers, and crowds back in Moab and head for a peaceful night camping at #bluemesareservoir for our last night 😬!
