As soon as I started exploring Custom Metahuman creation, the idea of designing a stylized family and putting it on marketplaces came to mind.
At that time, there were no such characters on the Fab site, so it became the first of its kind. It was an exciting experiment!
The characters are now available for purchase.

I've finished another experiment with Custom Metahuman.
I wanted to create a version with robotic arms while still allowing for further character customization.
In the process, I discovered a lot of technical details regarding the implementation of this idea and the packaging of these characters in the mhpkg format.
I’ve uploaded the finished files to my Gumroad page for free. Download them, make changes, add clothes, and use them in your projects.
Last year we launched several runs of our Unreal Engine directing course, and the December run turned out to be a special one - it was our first real experience working with external assets as part of a collaboration with other CG artists.
We were provided with great arctic assets, the Ural pack, and the Striker from @forma3dstore and @zhoslenmakoev , and we also used a troll character by @dimanimator . The goal was to assemble a single, coherent cinematic out of assets coming from completely different packs. It was genuinely interesting to design a short story in a way that allowed all these elements to blend naturally into one scene. In the end, it came together surprisingly well and proved to be very inspiring for the students.
For motion capture, I used @move_ai_ , and the main character came from the Shadow Unit pack by @bigmediumsmall_ .
Sound design and SFX for this piece were done by @eugene.krasnoded , who also gave a dedicated lecture on sound design for our students.
It was a simple but very solid experiment that unexpectedly became one of the most memorable ones of the year. I’d love to repeat a similar format again this year.
