One of the most intense things I’ve ever seen was on this day. I saw about 10 to 12 men carrying huge Gns, with bundles of cke on the table, just casually interacting with each other. It was as if I walked into a movie set 🤯 At one point, a guy with a scarred, closed eye, a cigarette in his mouth, and a huge g*n walked right past us, while another guy was casually mixing cement and mortar. The memory is still so vivid.
The hike up Morro Dois Irmãos after Vidigal wasn’t the easiest, it had rained so it was slippery, but still doable. The view is 1000% worth it 😍
A bit cloudy that day, but I still caught glimpses of it.
Hiking and the favelas were one of the top things on my to do list in Rio. I wanted to form my own opinion based on my own experiences, so when my friend Silvio agreed to take me to Vidigal favela and hike Morro Dois Irmãos, I was super excited.
The favela felt calm, looked colorful, with families, music, arts, and culture, just people living their daily lives. Unlike in the city, I did not feel worried at all about pickpockets or my phone being stolen. I tried to dance samba all day any chance I got, failed miserably 😅 I was happily saying “bom dia” to everyone the whole time. I’m so glad I got to have my own experience instead of just going off what everyone else says.

lol woke up at 4:40 to go party.. we danced, walked, and hopped all over the city until 15:00 when my legs and jet lagged body gave up 😭😂
