“To my eyes, Threshold is the underground theatre that [we as] students put on ourselves,” said Gleichenhaus. “These are really the student stories that are some of the most impactful to Long Beach students.”  Theatre Threshold, a theatre production company that is completely run by Cal State Long Beach students, is giving playwrights, actors, set, costume, lighting and sound designers a unique chance to gain hands-on, technical experience in the field of theatre. 🎭 You can read more about Theatre Threshold and hear from some of the students who run it in our story, “In the Spotlight with Theatre Threshold.” Available online now at digmaglb.com or in print in our brand new summer issue 👏 Story by Kimberly Wong Photos by Eva Holdorf and Gopi Vadsak #csulb #longbeach #theatre #art #theatrethreshold

“When I was 15, I fell through the cracks in the system, and it shattered me. I should’ve been treated by mental health professionals, not by an armed officer who pushed me against a wall and handcuffed me for being suicidal.” Karuna Namala’s story, “Broken Systems, Bleeding Souls,” is available to read online now at digmaglb.com or in print in our brand new summer issue 🍃💜 Story by Karuna Namala Photos by Gopi Vadsak Photo Courtesy of Karuna Namala #personalessay #essay #mentalhealth #csulb #longbeach

“Your mindset is everything. It’s not talent. The hard work, influences, and building your mindset. So keep at it. Sand the floor, paint the fence. Roll your sleeves up and you go to work, and make it happen. Whatever you want to do, just make it happen.” Check out our story, “LaTanya Sheffield’s Mindset to Success,” to hear from Sheffield, the director of track and field for CSULB athletics, and learn about her experiences in the sports world and the wisdom she has gained along the way. ⭐️ Available online at digmaglb.com or in print in our brand new summer issue! 🙌 Story by Larissa Samano Photo Courtesy of LBSU Athletics #longbeach #lbsu #trackandfield #community

“Vacation” is not a word often uttered by college students in the throes of tight budgets and stressful exams. Long Beach however, is just a few-hour drive from some of the most beautiful places in California. It’s impossible not to get the travel bug. Just three hours away from Long Beach, Joshua Tree National Park offers numerous hiking trails and over 300 campsites! And if that seems overwhelming to plan, don’t worry, Yalina Harris curated a perfect guide for you to follow 🌄 Available online at digmaglb.com or in print in our brand new summer issue! 🤎 Story by Yalina Harris Photos by Yalina Harris #travel #roadtrip #explore #joshuatree

“Coffee that fosters connection.” ☕💛 We visited @reinnesplace , a coffee shop founded by Tommy Le in honor of his late girlfriend, Reinne. Temporarily located inside Open Gallery on 7th Street, the shop invites guests to slow down and write “Reinne checks” — notes to loved ones, people no longer in their lives, or even past versions of themselves. Between browsing art prints and figuring out what we wanted to write, we also explored their menu of Vietnamese and Filipino‑inspired drinks. We tried the Blue Jasmine Matcha, the Honey Cinnamon Matcha, and their Blueberry Bibingka (pro tip: dip it in cold foam). 📍 7th Street inside Open Gallery (temporarily) 🕒 HOURS: Mon–Fri: 7 AM – 2 PM Sat–Sun: 8 AM – 4 PM Where should we DIG In next around Long Beach 🍽️✨ #DIGInLB #DigMagazine #LBCommunity #ReinnesPlace #LongBeachCoffee
