This artwork was created as a response to an event that caused quite a stir in 2009, when clouds shaped like an eye appeared in the sky over Padang, West Sumatra. It was a phenomenon that made me question and attempt to rationalize it, as it felt deeply surreal—like an eye watching from the sky, as if it belonged to a fantasy world.
At a time when technology was not as advanced as it is today, many people easily believed and interpreted the event in various ways. To recall that moment, I translated it into an artwork in the form of a clock, where the clock symbolizes time: how an event can become frozen in memory, debated in thought, and continue to move forward as time passes—yet its meaning remains alive in our collective memory.
