“My sleeping beauty”
I didn’t start as a photographer with a camera.
I started with instinct… and my iPhone.
Back in 2012-2016, I was working as a stylist and producing shoots. The contact for the magazine was mine, I helped make everything happen… but I didn’t have the tools yet, and honestly, not the confidence either.
So I shot with what I had.
While the official story for Cosmopolitan Mx was being photographed outside in the garden by a talented ph. I was inside the house we borrowed from my friend for the shoot creating something else.
In between looks, while dressing the model, I would take photos with my iPhone 6 or maybe less quietly. No pressure, no expectations. Just curiosity.
And these images… are mine.
I remember looking at them and thinking, “this is my sleeping beauty.”
It felt like I was staring at a painting something that, forgive the audacity, could live somewhere near a Pierre-Auguste Renoir or a Édouard Vuillard. In one of the Parisian muséums lol😉
I’m just a simple mortal… but that feeling was real.
Grateful for that version of me… and for having an iPhone in my hand when it mattered.
