‘Eighteen Maxims of Neatness and Order’
1.
It’s one of those nights in late spring where being coatless in the dark feels emancipatory, and my friend Jacob and I are standing in an alleyway that serves as the smoking area of a pub.
‘You’d make a terrible mother,’ he tells me. ‘Excuse me?’
‘Because you never know where your bag is.’ ‘What do you mean?’
‘Well—Where is it now?’
2.
The first time I take my laptop to a cafe to write after giving birth I feel lightheaded. It’s warm where I’m sitting by the window so I take my jumper off. Then, feeling exposed, put it back on. I take it off and on a second time, fussing now, feeling watched by everyone. I think: I am like a tortoise without its shell.
3.
My friend Cecilie, a sculptor, asks me to write a text for her solo exhibition and sends me her research on envelopes and pockets, folds and cracks. Among them is a pamphlet from the V&A museum, dedicated to women’s pockets. It cites a text from 1819 titled Eighteen Maxims of Neatness and Order, by the perfectly named Theresa Tidy. (…)

‘In Fortuna Super Fruits, mythological imagination collides with the aesthetics of contemporary consumer culture. The exhibition interweaves references to Norse cosmology with the visual language of slot machines, inviting reflection on cycles of fate, control, and circularity.’ @noushin_afzali

✨ Superluck Dinner ✨
Closing of the exhibition Fortuna Superfruits @ die Raum, 03.09
As the final event of the exhibition, on September 3rd we hosted a dinner entirely dedicated to the theme of luck: a sequence of dishes composed of ingredients and recipes that, in different cultures, are associated with fortune, or that are known to elevate serotonin and dopamine levels.
The menu was served in several courses – on specially designed tableware and tablecloths. Everyday objects such as stainless-steel ashtrays and hand-painted cigarette spoons were repurposed into plates and cutlery, creating an aesthetic that echoed the atmosphere of slot machine arcades and gambling halls – a key motif also explored in the exhibition.
The dinner was complemented by Bar Do Amanha by Oliva Bulas, offering personalized drinks crafted to attune to each guest’s emotions and states of happiness, gently shifted through carefully chosen ingredients. #Food #installationart #tableware #fooddesign #luck #casino

The evening will feature a special dinner dedicated entirely to the theme of luck: a composition of dishes and ingredients that are traditionally associated with good fortune in various cultures, as well as foods known to boost serotonin and dopamine levels.
In addition, Oliver Bulas will host the Bar Do Amanha, preparing personalized drinks designed to enhance or shift moods and feelings of happiness according to each guest’s wishes.
The dinner will be offered free of charge, but seats are very limited: only 20 places are available, and several have already been reserved. If you would like to join, please respond quickly and with a firm confirmation to secure one of the last spots.

For those who missed Sally Osborn’s beautiful presentation as part of the show A Whole is a Part is a Whole in Kunstpunkt Berlin:
A group of sculptural objects and photographs were concieved for the space in which clay objects were pressed together and pressed upon, thus incorporating the element of jeopardy directly into the material process. The chance result of those actions were made apparent in the exhibition.
