----------- Melanie Mohren and Bernhard Herbordt have been developing interdisciplinary works at the intersection of the performing arts for 25 years. They curate conferences and festivals and are active in the field of artistic research. In 2013, Herbordt/Mohren founded ‘Die Institution’ as a wide-ranging art installation and have since been working on an expanded concept of theatre, in various formats and media, on institutions and their actualisation. Between art and research, everyday life and the stage. The focus is on the alternative possibilities of institutions and how they can be conceived in a more permeable and solidarity-based way through performative transformations. This work led to the founding of the world's first show depot for the performing arts in Stuttgart in 2021. In 2022, Das Schaudepot was awarded the German Theatre Prize Der Faust in the category Genrespringer. For information on accessibility on site, visit the website of the HMDK Stuttgart, The event will take place in German spoken language, a whispered translation can be offered

Stuttgart, 29.11.2025 ✨ (this is a long post, a letter divided by moments) 1. In 1967 Yüskel Pazarkaya wrote “Ohne Bahnhof” (Without station) —the first theatre piece by a migrant author in Germany. It was barely staged and later forgotten.
In 2025 a group of artists and writers had the honor of revisiting it. 2. On the 29.11 we began with the beautiful “Pocket Library” format created by the wonderful artists Neto Machado @netomachado and Jorge Alencar @jorgealencarinsta from Salvador de Bahía, hosted in Stadtbibliothek Heslach.
There, together with the amazing Emilia Dorr @emilia.dorr and myself, we shared performances around emotional memory, shaped by past works that marked us. 3.
I was able to exorcise nostalgia and talk about a personal pain, the pain of my devastated homeland Cuba but also share joy from my culture, accompanied by the music of the great Celia Cruz and Benny Moré and my theatre memories of “Delirio Habanero”, a piece many Cubans will remember. 4.
For those moments of warmth and care, for a process filled with affection and sensitivity, I hold “Pocket Library” dearly in my heart, here in this foreign land.
It was magical and moving. 5. Later, at Das Schaudepot we opened with Özlem Özgul Dündar, a brilliant writer who welcomed us into her collective reading of a text revisiting the play. It was beautiful to read together, to be together. 6. We closed with the archive activation by Melanie Mohren and Bernhard Herbordt @die_institution
To you, what can I say? You have been the architects of this beautiful creative path.
Thank you for your generosity, creative freedom, intelligence and sensitivity in opening so many possible ways to revisit this key piece. Forever grateful. 7. It was special to share with many friends and colleagues and the great Andreas Nikakis who performed in the 1967 premiere. 8. Thanks to @marcusgbergmann for the amazing food, @dominique__brewing for all the beautiful pictures. To Linda and Felicitas, core part of the team. 9. This year ends with this… listening to Celia, Charly, Chico, Benny. And I hope that the show goes on!!! ❤️❤️

[Português embaixo] The relationship between the “Dance Library” and Germany dates back to its very origin — and it continues to bear fruit! This Saturday, November 29th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (local time), Jorge Alencar and Neto Machado, directors of the project, will present an edition of the “Pocket Library” at the Heslach Municipal Library in Stuttgart, in partnership with Melanie Mohren and Bernhard Herbordt (Die Institution). The session is part of “Das Schaudepot Special”, a full day program of Das Schaudepot with performances until 6 p.m. This time, the collection of Pocket Library Volumes will be composed of Latin American artists living in Germany: in addition to the Brazilian duo, the performers are Emilia Dorr, from Argentina, and Karina Pino, from Cuba — with chapters in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and simultaneous translation into German. In this experience, the creation of the Pocket Library Chapters unfolds the idea of “gaps in archives”, reflecting on stage and choreographic works that remain absent from memory, documentation, and the historiographic records of the performing arts.
