BEYOND THE TIP OF YOUR NOSE
In this open day workshop, we explore photography through the eyes of David Hockney. We don’t limit ourselves to the frame of the camera, but capture our perspective in a collection of images that together form ‘the work’.
WORKSHOP:

Explore the photo studio.

Choose one element that catches your eye: a corner, an object, a ray of light, a piece of wall, a reflection, a person, a floor pattern, or something else.

Capture the different aspects of this element, just like Hockney!
Don’t think in terms of perfection.
What do you see? :)

the graphic design introduction workshop 2025 for the new 1st, 2nd and 3rd years we held the 29th of august. This year organized by us; Jona, Jozefine and Dide
To see to be seen was centered around, ice breakers, lots of cardboard, seeing the other, seeing yourself, approaching the other, working Life size, capturing this moment in time and the GDA community
After they shortly got to know each other a bit better, the students formed groups in which they had to make a life size portrait of each other. So in the end the GDA community would be captured at this moment in time. In the second part of the workshop the students could write a letter to another member in their group and share their thoughts, or wish them good luck for the next semester.

For my graduation work ik zie ik zie wat jij niet ziet,
I’ve been researching our subjective world of perception. If everything we know is gained through our senses, what exists outside? And if everyone is stuck to their individual world of perception, it means there is a space between us we could never completely cross. I will never see what you’re seeing and you’ll never see what I’m seeing. Ik zie ik zie wat jij niet ziet invites to engage and awaken a sense of awareness towards your subjective perception. We’re hugging the space between us.
Together with my uncle Ard @ardk70 , we’ve researched the mechanics of a super 8 projector to figure out how an observer would be able to create and embody their own image. It resulted in this interactive multichannel installation, where the observer influences the light intensity and the speed of the image by stepping onto the steps.
