Phos, the mask of illumination.
Named for Phosphorus, the harbinger of dawn, the Morning Star, the light-bearer who precedes the sun. Not as dogma, but as symbol: the first glimmer, the spark that unsettles darkness and stirs thought into form.
Phos carries that tension, between revelation and shadow, myth and matter. A bearer of ideas. The first light of Illumina.
Forged over a month: pearls ground into pigment with selenite and binder, hibiscus and pomegranate yielding their reds, gold leaf laid by hand. A star ruby set into the brow , the iris of an awakened eye. Sigils layered into the papier-mâché before paint ever touched its surface. A ritual performed to activate it.
It stands on its own , sculpture, oil-lamp, talisman.
Heavy. Luminous. Awake.

This is a precursor.
Illumina unfolds within the coming year, an immersive, large-scale performance created in collaboration with the incredible choreographer @clarathie and extraordinary performers, composers, and artists. A living work of myth, sound, movement, and light.
These masks exist as both independent sculptures and foundations for that larger vision.

My dear brother Brandon was a radiant soul—a loving, mischievous Gemini, the truest embodiment of duality, and depth. On October 18th, on the fullest of moons, he left this plane. His spirit finally released from a lifetime shaped by relentless pain. Brandino was truly extraordinary by any measure, his mind a universe of rare brilliance and beauty, even as his body bore the weight of a horrific and rare disease. Bound by suffering but never broken, he crafted entire worlds, and profound relationships where he could lose himself, sometimes living fully in realms he mentally crafted so vividly.
He played the archetype of the court jester by fearlessly speaking truth to power with such finesse that he couldn’t be blamed for it. He embraced his role as a seer believing he had served his purpose. And in all his pain, he was actually sometimes grateful for his disease, thankful for the lessons it taught him and that it brought our scattered family together. All for him.
Brandon walked his path with a wild heart, unafraid to reveal uncomfortable truths, and to shatter illusions. His life was a testament to the courage it takes to live authentically, to dance at the edge, balancing humor and wisdom in equal measure.Now, he is free, his spirit no longer confined. I feel him everywhere, as if the air itself has taken on his spark. He’s zipping through the stars, a blazing trail of joy, wild and unbound, finally at peace in a way he never knew in life. He is part of everything now—every glimmer of light, every breath of wind,—a liberated soul embarking once more on its infinite journey.
In his writings, he spoke of seeing and conferring with angels who worked through him. He had a divine mission and in leaving his mark on all of us, I truly believe he fulfilled it. I miss your physical presence so much Brandon, though I’m so very relieved you’ve been released from your beautiful but broken corporal shell.
The Pursuit of Happiness by Kid Cuddi was his last song request as he smoked his last joint. At that point too weak to use a wheel chair, his bed was rolled out under the bright glow of the stars… to which he would inevitably make his way.
