This is our gentle invitation for our beautiful community to join our fourth workshop, The Colours of Fate, and embrace the sense of spirituality that we may have missed or long to reminisce about. Our lovely facilitator, Dinithi is a queer, Sri Lankan artist, Gardner and herbalist in training. Their work is an exploration of sacred object and ritual with a focus on nurturing practices of devotion to the more than human world. Using plants as conduit, Dinithis workshops are an exploration of our inner landscapes and the embodied strength and wisdom contained within them. This workshop explores the use of plant divination practices in dreaming up liberatory futures. We will work with Mugwort (Artemisia Vulgaris), a revered and ancient herbal medicine associated with the moon and used traditionally in dreaming practices. This workshop will involve a meditative visualization practice in which we envision the worlds our elder selves desire and dream to inhabit . We will then come together to create a collaborative tapestry using paint and plant material to map out these landscapes of our dreams and desires. This practice is intended to give shape to that most wise, most gentle guiding heart that lives within each of us. For enrolment in our limited-capacity free workshop, please book your spot through the link in our bio or on the Pink Ember website. 6:00–8:00pm, Friday, 15th May Pink Ember Studio, 22 Allenby Street, Coburg North

A bag I made Nd the process of its making: waiting for the plants to grow then slowly preparing the fibres to drink up their colours, dye bathes then dye bundles, pulling it all together. Weaving together a reflection of the garden. As I find myself deep in dyeing process I've been developing an appreciation for how labour intensive Nd resource intensive textile work is. It takes months to grow the flowers required to dye 2 to 3 garments of clothing, it takes litres of water to make a dye bath for 2 to 3 items of clothing and days and hours. I try to save and reuse as much as I can. Also Inc. Some reflections of water Nd my body, sore and achey, being in it as an act of Devotion

Dinithi is a queer sri lankan artist and gardener whose practice engages with craft as embodied storytelling. With plants and the more than human world as conduit, Dinithi’s practice is an ever evolving collaboration with the garden rooted in reverence and devotion to the living world. In this workshop we will work with found and foraged materials; fresh, dried and pressed flowers and plant materials, to craft our own magical and protective ornaments infused with intention and meaning. This process will be an exploration of how the ordinary is made extraordinary through acknowledging the deep interconnectedness of all things and their inherent wisdoms.
