In honor of last nights Oscarās and a spectacular year for Cinema š¬š I couldnāt me more stoked to announce my Film Contribution to 2025 āHALF-ASLEEPā Directed, shot, and edited by me - Dicky Thomas :)
This short film will be dropping this week on my YouTube Channel on Thursday the 19th at 12:00 AM. Stay Tuned š
For the last two years, @ryan_mcelmon and @dicky_thomas have been hard at work stacking clips and editing in the lab. Now, FREESKIER and @k2.skis are proud to announce that āThird Wheelā is live for the world.
After transitioning away from competing in Slopestyle, Ryan found a new passion through the grind of backcountry filming. Rome wasnāt built in a day, and neither was this project, but we think youāll have a hard time arguing with the results. Grab a beverage, hit the lights and tap in to this mid-season hype at the LINK āļø in bio.

šDicky Days #8 IN BIOš
In a time when short-form content is king, one man stands strong with a ridiculous, beautiful, and maybe even horrifying vision. To some, he is a leader, a failure, a stylist, an artist, an injured man, a professional skier, but to all, he is undoubtedly a āDickā. Watch Dick, Dicky Thomas, as he embarks on a treacherous journey that forces him to utilize all of his skills, knowledge, and assets to become truly Unpredicktable.
Far too much entertainment nowadays gravitates towards quick 10 to 60-second videos in hopes of dopamine and thousands of views. Dicky Days #8 challenges this shift. Attempting to re-spark the fire that was once strongly lit by our ancestors of StoryTelling.

Put simply, this post is long overdue. I absolutely love skiing. Probably more than anything Iāve done in my life. But skiing has been a rollercoaster. Fracturing my pelvis in 2018, I havenāt had a single season without injury since: concussions, herniated disc, torn shoulders, etc. Each year, the list just got longer.
Last year, I decided Iām done skiing professionally. And you probably noticed, I skied less, finished school, and even found my new passion. Filmmaking.
Still, taking it easy this season wasnāt enough. On a father son ski trip, I nollied, caught my tips and smoked my hand. I thought it was a sprain, so I skied the rest of the trip. But a visit to the doctorās office revealed I fractured my scaphoid. Not a big deal, right? Just 6 weeks in a cast.
That was March. Fast forward 4 months to July, my wrist only healed 30%. Time for surgery I guess. This is how skiingās gone for me. Whether it was something stupid I did or bad luck, my body never quite bounced back the way it should.
Recently my mind hasnāt aligned with my body. Thatās where the film came in. Whether itās editing, filming, or taking photos, I just love film. Being able to put my mind into something where I have no physical limitations is what Iāve always strived for in skiing, but came short. With film I can be as creative as I want and not worry about getting bodied. Iāve realized that what I enjoyed most about skiing was creating things that other people could enjoy, using my creativity to brighten the lives of others. And thatās exactly why I am now putting 100% of my effort into film.Ā Ā
I will always ski. But progressing in a sport Iāve poured my life into. Iām over it. Iām not a skier, Iām a filmmaker. I donāt regret a single day on skis as it gave me the best moments of my life, surrounded by the best people, ultimately leading me to a passion for filmmaking.Ā
I feel so blessed to have found multiple things in this world where I can show people who I really am whether itās through a cork, or a story. Huge thank you to @lineskis@pinewskis@full_tilt_boots@vulgus365 and everyone whoās helped me. I cannot wait to see where this beautiful sport goes! Love you Skiingā¤ļø
