Dianne Simpson | Spanish Steps 🗃
Dianne Simpson is an actress, writer, theatre director and has been in the industry for 30 years.
Some highlights of her acting career include musicals, 'The Sound of Music’, ‘My Fair Lady’, ‘Kinky Boots’ and ‘Into the Woods’. Plays include ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ - Maynardville, ‘Blithe Spirit’, Agatha Christie’s ‘Witness for the Prosecution’ and ‘Black Coffee’. She will soon be in the musical ‘Oliver!’ and ‘The Murder of Roger Ackroid’ at Monte Casino and Cape Town’s Artscape and Theatre on the Bay.
TV credits include South African local series, ‘The Wild’, ‘Generations’, ‘Binnelanders’, ‘Egoli’, ‘The River’ and ‘Legacy’.
International TV credits include playing Elizabeth Finch in ‘Anatomy of Lies’ for Peacock US and First Lady Julia Grant in Leonardo Di Caprio’s ‘Grant’.
Films include Warner Bros’ ‘Racing Stripes’; ‘Jock, the Hero Dog’ and ‘The Rats’ (Netflix). She played Lucille, the main villain, in the viral Tubi (US and Canada) horror movie, ‘MATCH’ and has just shot her second movie for Tubi called ‘Remember Me’.
She has many writing credits that include starring and writing 2 one woman shows ‘Rose Red’ and ‘The Sister’s Ugly’ as well as starring and writing in motion capture series, ‘Silly Seasons’ which was aired in South Africa and Canada.
She was a writer on local series, ‘Legacy’ (M-Net) and ‘Summertide’ (M-net).
She shines alongside Gavin Werner in Spanish Steps, showing at the Masque Theatre this week. Her performance is poignant, raw, and unapologetic as the restrained Maureen. Don't miss it!
