'Pillars of Thought' Mixed clay 2021

ENG/MALAYALAM These pots, called Chattis,are used throughout India for storing water, cooking, and cooling beverages. They are made using an ancient technique by which a potter uses a stone inside the pot as a base, and beats the clay into shape using a wooden mallet. These tools are usually made by the potter themselves. The Potter we worked with, Rajesh Appukuttan, is a traditional Kumbharan, or Potter. He has been doing this work since he was 16 years old and was taught by his father and grandfather. The pots are made of terracotta clay which is beaten to be very thin, and is still porous after firing, making them ideal for cooking, and keeping water cool. Over the course of our stay in Clayfingers we will be learning this technique from Rajesh and document this process to be archived into codingceramics.org ഇന്ത്യയിലുടനീളം വെള്ളം സംഭരിക്കുന്നതിനും, പാചകം ചെയ്യുന്നതിനും, പാനീയങ്ങൾ തണുപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനും മൺചട്ടികൾ എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ കലങ്ങൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. അതിപുരാതന കരവിരുത് ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ് ഇവ നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്, ആ വിദ്യ അനുസരിച്ച് കുംഭർ കലത്തിനുള്ളിൽ ഒരു കല്ല് സപ്പോർട്ട് നായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുകയും, തടി ഉപകരണം ഉപയോഗിച്ച് കളിമണ്ണ് അടിച്ച് രൂപപ്പെടുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഈ ഉപകരണങ്ങൾ സാധാരണയായി കുംഭാരൻ / potter തന്നെയാണ് നിർമ്മിക്കുന്നത്. ഞങ്ങൾക്കൊപ്പം pottery ചെയ്യുന്ന രാജേഷ് അപ്പുക്കുട്ടൻ ഒരു പരമ്പരാഗത കുംഭാരൻ അഥവാ Potter ആണ്. 16 വയസ്സുള്ളപ്പോൾ മുതൽ അദ്ദേഹം ഈ ജോലി ചെയ്തുവരുന്നു, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അച്ഛനും മുത്തച്ഛനും അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പഠിപ്പിച്ചു. വളരെ നേർത്തതാക്കി അടിച്ചു ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്ന ഈ കലങ്ങൾ കളിമണ്ണ് ( earthenware ) കൊണ്ടാണ് നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്, കൂടാതെ ചൂളക്ക് വച്ചതിനുശേഷവും ഈ കലങ്ങൾ അതിസൂക്ഷ്മ സുഷിരങ്ങളുള്ളതുമാണ്, ഇത് പാചകത്തിനും വെള്ളം തണുപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനും അനുയോജ്യമാക്കുന്നു. ക്ലേഫിംഗേഴ്‌സിൽ താമസിക്കുന്ന കാലയളവിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ രാജേഷിൽ നിന്ന് ഈ കരവിരുത് വിദ്യ പഠിക്കുകയും ഈ പ്രക്രിയ codingceramics.org-ൽ ആർക്കൈവ് ചെയ്യുന്നതിനായി രേഖപ്പെടുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും. My time at Bronze Age, I had an amazing 6 months, and met some amazing people there.

The plasticity and reactivity of clay is an extension of your brain. Clay maquetting is how ceramic designers translate their ideas into 3d. The aim is to build models quickly to keep the flow going, paying attention to form and decoration as opposed to advanced techniques When we familiarise ourselves with the shapes we are making we understand the comfort or discomfort we feel with how they sit, stand and weigh. “The maquette is a way of visualising the sculpture in three dimensions, to understand how it will occupy space.” -Henry Moore @dhrpt and I have just commenced a really exciting project which you can see snippets of in this video. It's going to be super exciting so stay tuned !!!!
