I’ve been thinking a lot about the state of the music industry throughout 2025 and 2026. Through many shared conversations with artists, research, and reflection, I put down some thoughts I wanted to share. The goal here isn’t to participate in the rat race, but to create something of our own that we collectively control. Creating co-ops in the art world can provide the kind of infrastructure that goes beyond grassroots initiatives and gives artists more ownership, sustainability, and autonomy. In 2025 I met @highigherhai in Ho Chi Minh City, and we started mapping out the hoodie he helped bring to life. A year later, I finally got to hand him the finished piece while we spent another month traveling through Vietnam, meeting friends and @bbysu_chi family. It took a long minute to get these right, but here they are! Custom-made hoodies for my last year’s EP, AOWIS. As soon as I saw @jamesronkko artwork for AOWIS, I knew merch was a must. But I didn’t want the usual stock fits. I definitely had no idea how much work and detail goes into making clothes—that’s for sure. That’s where MVP @highigherhai stepped in and helped me realize the vision of a cropped, boxy fit, from textile and product design all the way to sourcing. After a lot of trial and error, we finally got the sample right, and the next step was to go to my brother Diego @fieldink_studio for the screen print. And here we are. RIVER - new music with @_modha_ featuring the homies @abase_music @zakhorov ! Made most of this tune in a single session with Szabi back in 23. Fanni then stepped in and did her magic on the flute.
