When the tidal motions, the renowned ‘acqua alta’, flood Venice the suspended passages constructed with the walkways (passerelle) allow the ordinary bustle of life. At certain times, we observe them piled up at the edges of the alleys, waiting to be promptly assembled to provide a dry elevation for daily transit.
The Passerella line consists of a table and bench. The table is made from a bricola wood slatted top with flared edges that give a sense of floating, and burnished iron legs. These supports, consisting of two pillars with hollowed-out vertical heads, also contribute to conveying a feeling of suspension.

Each bricola board is unique. Its veins are evidence of the tree’s life, and the imperfections tell us of a work produced by the lagoon. We bring these unique marks to light by combining craftsmanship and aesthetic research.

The exhibition brings together #ZhuXinjian and @braidathomas in a duo exhibition that explores the notion of “Dolce Far Niente” as a poetic and critical framework—one that reconsiders time, perception, and everyday experience through a cross-cultural lens.
