This is just a snippet of what was an awesome and uniquely different festival. Thank you @tadgraves and the @brujeriacarnaval crew for creating something different as far as festivals go, and for inviting me to DJ. The Zouk room was on fire! The workshops, shows, and music was on point in every room. New Orleans as a host was amazing as usual! I was honored to help make it an amazing weekend 🙏🏾

The lineup of instructors DJs and performers and guests was incredible! The instruction was top notch, and it was wonderful to see instructors supporting each other's workshops. The daytime and evening dance opportunities created a fantastic sense of community.

Dexter and Yung-tsi are cofounders and directors of Onírico Dance based in the Twin Cities (USA). Collectively, they hold decades of music and dance education and experience. The focus at Onírico Dance is on Afro and Afro-Latin music/rhythms and expression through dancing while creating safe spaces to learn and grow together.
Dexter is also a sought-after DJ raised in a family of professional singers, musicians, and producers. Surrounded by arts culture his entire life, he emphasizes understanding the music and history behind the dance and creating community through these shared connections.
Yung-tsi is also an award-winning choreographer, musician, and former adjunct dance theater faculty whose work and performances are showcased on prestigious stages such as the Southern Theater, Rarig Center, and Cowles Center, and at dance congresses worldwide in the USA, UK, Egypt, Germany, and Poland.
Dexter and Yung-tsi teach and train both locally and abroad, growing talent at home and touring events as invited artists. Together their performances and competition entries have yielded Summit championship and Latin Dance Crown trophies and other awards, and they continue to add to their repertoire in Bachata, Salsa, Kizomba, Urban Kiz, Brazilian Zouk, Lambada, and associated Cabaret categories.

Dexter Watson, aka DJ Dex, is a Minneapolis-based DJ with deep musical roots. Born in Chicago’s Paseo Boricua neighborhood and raised in a family of musicians, he developed a passion for collecting and sharing music that grew into a profession.
From mixtapes and school radio to major stations like KDWB and KMOJ, his journey has led him to DJ weddings, events, and Afro-Latin festivals across the U.S. and beyond. A dedicated figure in Minnesota’s dance community, he brings energy to both large and intimate events, sharing crowd favorites and hidden gems. As an instructor, he helps dancers refine their skills in Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Urban Kiz, and Zouk, ensuring they connect deeply with the music.
