There aren’t enough slots for all the beautiful videos and pix to capture our two shows at Django’s Jazz Caravan hosted by @sixstringsociety and @kennethrexrode …who, if you don’t know is SUCH an asset as a producer to our North County culture. 🎵☀️🌊 My 💕 runneth over. Thank you to everyone at The Brooks Theater who made the day a success and all the people who came out. The musicians were just too too good. And the vibe was so high… and I don’t mean just from the White Claws. 🤣 I am also such a proud “jazz mom” (as @mrhowellmusic coined me) @dexter_model did a great job on our two sets and then we got to sit back and enjoy the oh so kind and generous @evamikhailovna and @thepeppermoons in Act One and the incredible @_lucapino_ and @_pinonoir_ in Act Two. You MUST go follow him/them. 🎸🎵They’re based outta LB. 🙏🌊🥂🇫🇷 @chloejazz3 is seriously the best clarinetist I have been that close to. She also does a mean needlepoint! Along the way was the incredible mentalist @thekevinviner who apparently also doubles as a San Diego guitarist. @billygalewoodrules is about as nice and as crazy fun as an entertainer gets… and @idun_carling was on hand to add her trombone, incredibly sweet vocals and overall star quality. What a joy to be on stage with everyone including Sam and Gareth from Luca’s group…. Wow!!! When I wrote this melody I had no idea what the story would end up being. That’s kinda wild. The lyricist (in this case Rosemary Watson) wanted to write about the feeling of belonging. She used a small interaction she had with the real Tina Fey when she was at The Mark Twain Prize for Humor (check out the hidden lyrics.) It’s a moment in time that made a lasting impression on her. Come Sit Here…is our newest song coming to earholes in the next day or two☀️. Dexter wrote the music a few months ago. Rosemary wanted to write about the idea of belonging after a conversation she had with a friend. She sorted through the tunes Dexter had sent on his phone and she landed on his soft, pretty 70’s ballad. In sorting through her memory banks, she recalled a brief but meaningful interaction she had with none other than Tina Fey. The two met over a decade ago at The Mark Twain Prize for Humor honoring Carol Burnett. It’s a personal song but holds deep universal themes.
