🌧️ We were ready… but so was the rain.
Opening day at DEW Haven | Maine Zoo & Rescue is officially postponed to tomorrow — Mother Nature clearly had other plans. 🙃
Our Black Trumpeter Swans, however, are thriving in the weather (see video evidence 🦢🌦). The rest of us? Slightly more soggy and significantly less graceful.
So we’re hitting pause until TOMORROW — Sunday, May 11th —the weather is looking much more favorable ☀
Thanks for sticking with us through this never-ending Maine monsoon — we can’t wait to finally open the gates and welcome you in for our 2025 season!

Today we share the passing of Robert Miner.
To honor his memory, Bob’s surviving daughter, Rebecca, has kindly requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to DEW Haven | Maine Zoo & Rescue
As the original founder of D.E.W. Animal Kingdom over 45 years ago, we acknowledge the complexities of his life’s journey, while remaining grateful for his early contributions to our cause. Many know Bob was never a people person, until you put him in front of animals. He longed for the connection that the animals gave him back to people. We are sure he will be forever grateful for all the animals taught him and for all the memories they gave him.
