What do you do when you get a matcha latte for yourself and arrive at the table to find your friend waiting with a cappuccino they ordered for you? You drink both, of course 😅

The truth about cats and dogs in Tbilisi. Tbilisi has a population of about 1.3m and estimated 30-50,000 stray cats and dogs looked after by the residents. The dogs are often tagged and vaccinated by the city. 🐾🐾🐈🐈‍⬛💛💛

One of the greatest joys for a children’s author, is when they get to spend WBD at a school, interacting with hundreds of young readers. I got to experience this joy last week at the brilliant nonsuchhsg which has a library nonsuchhsg_library that I can only describe as one from my schoolgirl fantasies! I had such good fun the entire day talking and workshopping about all things books and reading and writing and travel and life with the wonderful students at the school. Here are some highlights from the day: - Getting a lunchbox treat - a karanji that a student’s mum had made for holi - Chatting about my book with a student dressed up as one of the main characters - Being trusted enough by the students to share openly with me their troubles and asking about advice for things like - how to take big decisions in life and how to concentrate while studying! - Not being judged for getting super animated while discussing our favourite kdramas, cdramas and lakorns - Finding the library shelves filled with my favourites and books from my TBR and those written by so many of my author friends including a massive stack of books by the lovely @ayaan_moham - Having a Friends at First Sight encounter with the amazing @scribbler1888 whose enthusiasm and care was not only reflected in the library but through every single interaction and conversation I had with her. 🤗 It was a brilliant brilliant day. Thank you so much for having me.🤩😍 #wbd #wbd2026 #worldbookday #childrensauthor

Murder mystery anyone? This half term thanks to @keya._.k I had one of the most fun times ever as we (mostly her!) solved the Murder Mystery Puzzle which involved putting together a 1000 piece puzzle (with no reference photograph) which would give you clues to solve the mystery described in quite the detail in a booklet accompanying the puzzle. My contributions to this endeavour included enacting the story, coming up with the most elaborate theories and suggesting the use of a crime board. This is what counts for fun in a books and games mad household! 😅 Anyone planning on solving this Murder Mystery Puzzle my suggestion would be to have as much fun puzzling and theorising - because the actual solution in its sheer level of laziness and irrationality has now become an inside joke - on random occasions @keya._.k can still be heard shouting out the culprit’s name along with her choice of (mild) swear words. I can only empathise with her! But it was the bestest of fun! 🤩 #murdermystery #murdermysterypuzzle #halftermfun

I often get requests for talks and workshops and signed books from teachers and librarians. Being able to interact and spend time with young readers is the best thing about being a children's book author. I absolutely love it! ❤️ Am always up for doing things that can help spread the joy of reading and books. So when an enthusiastic, resourceful teacher from a school in Canterbury contacted me asking for signed photographs to be used as competition prizes and to raise money to fund an author's school visit, how could I possibly say no?😍 I hope the kids find the photos amusing and if not anything else, I hope they make for a good memory or a seed for a story. #childrensauthor #childrensbookauthors #joyofreading #diversebooksforkids #authorlife
