The Greek word praus, often translated as meekness, describes a person who is disciplined and self-controlled, not weak or timid. It was often used to describe a warhorse that has been trained for battle; powerful, fierce, and capable of violence, yet calm and fully under the rider’s control. True meekness is strength governed by wisdom and restraint, not the absence of strength itself. A meek man does not lack strength, instead he has mastered it.
