The craziest dive of my life. We made an expedition to an extremely remote region of the Solomon Islands to film sharks around one of the most active submarine volcanoes on Earth—Kavachi. Because of its isolation, no one had been there in over two years, so we had no idea what we would find or if the volcano was even active at the surface. You are quickly reminded of the intense power of the Earth here. Even while scuba diving more than 50 miles away, we could hear its ominous underwater explosions. Concussive blasts traveling through the ocean and vibrating through your entire body, sending sharks into erratic behavior. Reaching these dangerous waters required extreme logistics. We had to carry drums of fuel on the boat just to get there, knowing that once we committed, there was no easy way out. Before entering the water, we launched a drone to track the direction of the constant flow of sulfuric acid, making sure we wouldn’t get cooked alive while diving. 🌋🦈 Going through the archives and had to share. One of my all-time favorite adventures with @mykeclarkson @pauldegelder @jeffgedit @mike_jabs_ @bestproductioncompany

Hard work preparing something here in the Amazon. Sweat bees go after the salt in your sweat… and I never usually sweat. Flood humidity, high temps, and coming straight out of winter… I’ve become a walking buffet. They get into every crevice and hole in your clothes. More annoying than dangerous. Only females can sting, and they almost never do.

One of the strangest fish in the Amazon. A banjo catfish (Amaralia hypsiura) perfectly mimicking a dead leaf on the river bed… Trying to avoid one of the rivers, most venomous predators which we encountered next! Full expedition episode now live on my channel

Into the Amazon: Life with the Yawanawá — Part 3 now live. As the river falls during the dry season, survival becomes more intense for both people and wildlife. By day we dive into submerged forests using traditional spearfishing methods… but when night comes, the jungle reveals an entirely different world. Strange encounters. Hidden dangers. And the constant presence of electric eels beneath the dark water. Watch the full film now on my YouTube channel.
