Skidoo’s Ride Out Intimidation Day:
This day comes each year and there is one day in my snowmobiling life so far that I am always reminded of, that day I rode beyond what I thought my capabilities were...I rode out my own self made intimidation.
I had been watching Matt’s videos for years and I always wanted to ride with his crew one day. I knew well enough I am a grain of sand compared to their mountain of talent but I just wanted to ride with them anyways. When that day came, I was so damn excited and also border line nauseous from nerves. I kept saying “do not get stuck Anett!”
Not far off the trail, the first climb, yep I just couldn’t gather myself to make the second part of a climb, so, Matt rode my 2016 163 800 Summit up whaling with it’s “cool” new can that bit their hearing a little. I walked up thinking “man I suck” and once at the top I even froze as the boys broke trail through the trees. Matt looped back and gestured to follow, so I did, shaking thinking “do not get stuck again Anett”, thankfully I didn’t...yet. We came out of the trees and it was just football fields of pow! Finally, I could show them I can ride 🤣😉
A few snaps of the guys jumping off pillows and they said “let’s go!” We rode passed more as far as the eye could see bowls and dropped, then climbed, and climbed! I was holding my own (by now you understand big and open is my forte, and yes I am aware that does not require a lot of skill but I still love the open terrain).
We came to either a long side hill or a drop and tight left to a straight climb. I attempted the latter, I got stuck. Matt came to help and I apologized, he just laughed and said “no worries!” I attempted it again and bailed, this time circling out. The guys waited at the top, I went 3rd time fully panicking inside mostly of embarrassment than missing the execution. I just looked straight up past where the boys had their hands up cheering and MADE IT! They gave out a “hell yeah!” probably more so because it meant we could keep going haha, but it made me feel like “ok, I got this!”
