How might we encounter the city through listening?
The Atlas of Uncertainty moves from the census to the senses, expanding how urban life is documented and understood. Alongside maps and statistics, it brings together sound, poetry, and visual art to explore what cannot easily be measured, yet is deeply present in everyday urban experience.
Sound is not just an accompaniment to the city — it actively shapes it. It guides movement, marks boundaries, signals belonging, and structures the rhythms of urban life.
This session invites a collective listening experience within the Chris Seabrooke Music Hall: an immersive “sonic bath” drawing on works from the exhibition and sound practitioners, guiding participants through layered urban soundscapes.
To listen is to encounter the city differently — through its atmospheres, its frictions and resonances, and the shared sonic spaces that hold us together.

This can be abstract, figurative, or geometric, but must translate the essence of our shared creative environment.
