I felt the call. 🦈 I knew I was about to witness something beautiful. But nothing could have prepared me for the moment I saw my first thresher shark. A knot in my throat. Time stopped.
It’s the kind of feeling that only lives fully in the water, in that exact breathless, timeless silence.
It was beyond my imagination, its metallic colors, the lines of its body, the big eyes, and that long caudal fin dancing through the water.
One of my first thoughts was: “I share a planet with this.”
I felt small, but in the best way possible. For a moment, it was just me and the thresher, alone. And I felt the humbleness of being in the presence of something ancient, a living fossil that has kept the ocean for millions of years.
I don’t think I have the right words yet. But one thing is clear, I need to stay longer. To settle into this feeling. To understand these sharks better.
