Romantic Suspense / Single Dad / Teacher x Sheriff
Fans of Lyla Sage and Catherine Cowles will be obsessed with this book. Ilsa returns home after the sudden passing of her, restrain’s father to a house in shambles. When she sees a mast person staring at her through her window at the cottage, the sexy town sheriff Cosi comes to her rescue. This book perfectly balanced mystery with romance. Yes the two of them connect before you’re halfway through the book, but it doesn’t feel like an Insta love. It feels like two people who found someone who they have a deeper connection with that they don’t realize yet. Oh also Cosi is a single dad. Who is his son? Oh he’s Ilsa’s student. The relationship between Ilsa and Spencer was so well written and lovely. It was a great example of how a single Dad romance with a teenage son can be written so well and include the sun as a part of the story. I was convinced this was slightly a paranormal romance because of how creepy and eerie the mystery components of the story were. I was smacked by the twist. I didn’t see it coming.
The depth of the relationship between these two characters grew so fast. It felt almost like a second chance of romance with how rich their connection was. It is steamy it is protective it leaves you bagging for more.
Sequels
Small Town Smoke Show by @authorhollyrenee was an amazing addition to the Calloway Ranch series. I loved it. Maggie and Hunter’s story is too sweet for words.
Lace and Poison by @authoralexiscalder is the next book in the Vow of ☠️ series. The first book was a wild ride from court politics and secret identities and long buried truths.
The Stolen Crown by @authorljandrews is the next book in the EverSeas series. When I say I have been waiting for this story for a minute - I have. But it’s well worth the wait to finally read Tait’s and Mira’s story.
Rites of Starling by @devneyperry is in my home and I’m excited to listen to the audio as I roll away in my garden. The first book was simply magical from the treehouses to the love shared and the adorable creatures I wish to be a mommy to.

I try so hard not to, but I can always be swayed by a pretty book. I originally held off on Shield of Sparrows because I had such a long TBR, but yall, why did I do that? This book and its sequel sucked me in so fast and had me searching up theories and fan fiction and character art and everything! This story utterly consumed me. Book 2 was multiple POV, which initially confused me (look, I didn’t do a reread prior to diving in. My bad, guys.) but ended up being one of my favorite parts of the story. I loved trying to unravel all of the secrets and hidden clues. The romance in this book is just unmatched and the chaos and drama just levels it up even more. I loved loved LOVED this story so so much and am so glad that I finally jumped I . An easily 5+ star read!
