The words escape me. Truly. This place is more than a space. It was the first opportunity I had to be free. To sing what I wanted. Be who I wanted. I can’t say who Jha’mai would’ve been without @theartistbloc and Darlene, Sunny, and Trish. Darlene brought me in, gave me my first feature. The first woman to ask me to host. There were and are so many firsts I experienced here, with her. I was 19 years old, and yearning to just sing. And they gave that to me with no expectation or requirement.. just the ask of being myself. The growth we’ve had together is incomprehensible. I am so thankful, grateful, and blessed to be the host of this final tribute to a staple in the arts community of Greensboro. Won’t you join us not for goodbyes, but a well deserved see you soon. ❤️

Sonny Miles - GAMMA (2024 / 2026) • • • GAMMA, the debut album by North Carolina musician Sonny Miles, pressed on vinyl in collaboration with ElasticStage in 2026. Originally released in February 2024, the album was recorded over a four year period, taking inspiration from the North Carolina musician’s various romantic relationships between the ages of 25 and 27. I’ve been a fan of Sonny Miles since 2022. At that time, his music was scattered a little bit around the usual streaming platforms but primarily Bandcamp, including an early, completely different version of GAMMA from 2019. To fast forward five years later and hear a more confident and concise Sonny was amazing! The North Carolina musician masters his soulful sound, amplified with a little bit of edginess here and there. The opener “WENUNEED” + “Drop” are both smooth and mellow in its core but with a sprinkle of off-kilterness (that word doesn’t exist but you get my point) in its drums. “Can’t Swipe Away” and “Over & Over” sees Sonny expressing the love he has for a lady (or ladies) he’s been talking to. “Pour It Up” is a more intimate jam where Sonny lets his sexual desires out. The album also makes use of the little guest appearances, with Jalisa almost getting her own room to shine on “Slide (Intermission)” and Dev handling background vocals on “Powerdivine”. And samples from the likes of Tweet and Martin Nowell make for intriguing moments, specifically the former being flipped into a smooth closer (“Kwiet”). GAMMA was one of my favourite projects from 2024 so you know at some point, I was wishing for it to be pressed on wax! Luckily, ElasticStage came in clutch to help bring that to life. There were a few differences, including a slightly shortened version of “Kwiet” and a solo version of “Pour It Up”. The back cover also suffered a misprint, not mentioning “Drop” and mistakenly crediting the version of “Pour It Up” with Kelly Moonstone. But the packaging really made up for it, coming with a booklet of the album’s lyrics and credits. And the vinyl played perfectly🔥🔥 An underrated album I highly recommend for any R&B lover! Glad to have this in my collection‼️

As we near the end of the 100th Anniversary of Black History Month, it is not lost on me that I am living proof of Black History & Excellence. I still remain my ancestor’s wildest dreams. I was honored to play at the 125th NAMM in Anaheim, CA, with The Gents, last month. After being out of work for 7 months, I was uncertain of how I was going to get a band to the West coast. I would like to say THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH the following donors for making it possible for us to have our first NAMM performance experience: Dad ( Teddy Hall ) Dri (WhaGwann Hall) Brett Chambers Rissi Palmer-Stypmann(Color Me Country Grant) Jack Bradley Bianca Henry Ruby Cobb Beth Hall ( Greylan Hall’s Mom) Constance Prince Sherri Zoldos & Bobby Zoldos Lynne Smith & Ken Smith Bassist Amani Jones Don Harvan Melanie Johnson Audrey McSwain I appreciate you all for your love. I appreciate you all for your unwavering support. My heart was so full to stand on the stage after being stressed for months to figure out how I was going to make this once in a lifetime opportunity. I would like to, also, THANK YOU to my Gents (Jack, Grady Matthew, Nicholas SupaBeatz Farrington, Dev)! & My COUSIN (Anesha Hines)! Yall did me right and I’m forever grateful!!
