Hereโs a video I made for Eraserhead. A sort of visual ode to life on the road, where thousands of miles turn into blurry memories - in a selection of moving postcards. All shot on the last @deltasleepband tour, using a very tiny camera. Stoked I also managed to squeeze @stevelamos into the edit ๐ฅ๐๐๏ธ
Dawn is a week old. Thank you to all the amazing and talented people who helped bring this project to life. And special thanks to @mariamdwedar for her lovely footage including the beautiful intro sequence ๐ซ๐๐๏ธ
Ok here goes. Iโm very excited (and nervous) to share my first ever song as Devin Yรผ! ๐
Possibility Of is a collaboration with my buddy @v_lowendbend for his ambient neo-classical project Solbore and is out now to watch / listen to โ๏ธlinks in bioโ๏ธ
This song holds a very special place for me, being that exactly one year ago some very valuable personal belongings were stolen from me, among which was my laptop containing almost 3 years worth of musical projects I was working on (the thought of which has pained me every day since). Stupidly I didnโt back anything up, and being so precious, guarded and perfectionist about everything, I hadnโt shared any project files with anyone. All except for this song, which Vlad kept chasing me to finish and send to him. All this to say, thanks Vlad for pushing me to finish this song which, as a result, has led me to being more proactive about reshaping, sharing and releasing my music (and videos). Iโm happy to say that plans are in the works and more Devin Yรผ is very much on the horizon โ ๏ธ
Lastly, I hope you enjoy this video I made. Iโm very proud of it. An ode to Renรฉ Magritte, the streetlamps of Rome, and to anyone who feels helpless and lost ๐๏ธ๐ก๐
Extra shout out to @mark_roberts_producer for adding some final sparkles into the mix ๐๏ธโจ
Last year I started a remix for my friend Vladโs ambient project. I ended up adding so many layers that it became a fully fledged song. This song will mark the very first release under my solo name Devin Yรผ. It will be out later this week alongside a dreamy little music video I made for it. Kinda nervous, kinda excited, kinda sad at the state of the world. Nonetheless Iโm happy to set free something thatโs been locked inside for a while. More to come ๐๐
Sad news about all the happenings at VICE these days. I have been working with the company for the best part of 12 years - starting as an intern - turned employee - turned freelancer. I've seen VICE grow from a relatively small production into a massive corporate machine, witnessing some very questionable choices along the way, but also some game changing ones.
One of the highlights has, without a doubt, been working with the people at VICE News Tonight, which aired its last show the other day :(
I can confidently say that nowhere else in the global media landscape will you find this amount of talented journalists / filmmakers / creatives / support staff under the same roof - working together creating urgent, groundbreaking, and stylistically beautiful content that so many other media outlets have been attempting to replicate over the years, but ever failing to come close. And it shows, with its track record of being the most Emmy award winning newscast ever (to which I graciously owe a couple of nominations myself).
Virtually everyone I have met and worked with (way too many to mention) have always been inspiring in some way. At the forefront of their craft, chasing the same goal whilst effortlessly mixing passion and talent with kindness, humour, and geniality. I feel lucky to call a lot of them my friends.
The show has allowed me to catch a unique glimpse of the world. I have gone from being detained in Belarus to filming with Maasai shepherds on the Kenya-Tanzania border - From filming with MS13 gangs in El Salvador to being at center of the first deadly Covid-19 wave in the north of Italy. From filming locals on the beaches of now Russian occupied (and completely destroyed) Mariupol, to almost fainting from onset hypothermia and being fed soup by Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines in Donbas.
This is not the end of VICE, but it's certainly entering a strange new chapter. Let's just hope they manage to keep a hold of the loud and unique voice they have been moulding into the news and media landscape.
