New chord progression… still a bit of work to be done on my timing, but I keep surprising myself with how much progress I’ve made since the surgeries on my fretting hand. I’ve been finding myself falling into a style that falls somewhere between Latin, jazz and neo-soul, and can’t wait to take some of these ideas into the DAW to see where this all goes when mixed with beats and bass. Between work, family and relationship obligations, it’s been a bit difficult to find time to write new music. But what I have had time for is sitting down with the guitar, exploring new chord progressions, and continuing to expand my music theory knowledge, recording little ideas on my phone to hopefully turn into tracks when I have a bit more time. Here’s a little progression I’ve been playing around with today (excuse some of the sloppy playing)
The day is finally here! I’ve been talking about @subvertworld for a long time now to anyone who will listen. For anyone who doesn’t know, this is a music retail platform that is collectively owned by its members. Coming home from rocking a crowd of hundreds to having to clean the toilet and do laundry is a weird experience. Loud to quiet, exciting to mundane. Wouldn’t trade what I get to do for anything, but it’s weird to come home and just be “normal” after a big peak experience.
