Even with adding color her hair is healthier after stopping DevaCurl use. Obviously some damage is worse than others. Relaxing of natural texture without severe hair loss or breakage is one of the minor reactions to the products. Some bottles contain more of the harmful chemical than others because chemical reactions don’t happen uniformly if heat exposure caused the products to contain a dangerous toxin. The industry has learned your safe words. They know what to leave out so you don’t focus on what else could be inside. Your false sense of security stops at the label. Here’s why it shouldn’t: You know what’s easy? 🧐 Looking at an ingredient list and ruling out a product because of a name you’ve heard before that you were told is bad. 😣 You know what’s inconvenient and challenging? 🧐🧐Learning that what you should actually be afraid of isn’t listed on the label. 😱 BPA & PHTHALATES cause endocrine disruption that results in a multitude of health issues. The bad news is your hair can look good while your body suffers. Did you know you absorb your cosmetic products into your body in amounts that can negatively impact your health to the point of serious ailments like Alzheimer’s and certain cancers? Finding plastic-free products is an expensive inconvenience and that’s why we aren’t educated on the risks they pose to our physical wellbeing. No one is protecting us and so we must protect ourselves and the only way to do that is through education and advocacy to end the acceptance of #toxicbeauty and so many others industries accepting harmful #plastic in “acceptable amounts” but not factoring in how heat can turn those “safe” quantities into life-altering proportions. Don’t take it from me. Do your research. Make your own choices. I’ve chosen never to turn a blind eye again.
Today I found out about a test that shows if you have plastic toxins in your body because a fellow DevaCurl victim was recommended the test by her naturopath doctor after still experiencing symptoms months after discontinuing DevaCurl use. The test is called a Toxic Non-Metals test and she ordered hers from Great Plains Laboratory (they call theirs a GPL-TOX) and what do you know? Her results came back with high levels of toxins such as phenylglycolic acid which comes from styrene and N-acetyl phenyl cysteine which comes from benzene, both toxic plastic byproducts. She does not eat foods that come in plastic and don’t have to be kept frozen and she doesn’t work in a PVC manufacturing plant. She’s a young mom who trusted DevaCurl not to rob her of her health. She didn’t deserve to be poisoned. She didn’t do anything to put herself in harms way. None of us did. We are victims of product safety negligence. I will be ordering this test and recommend anyone who can afford it does the same. I have no connection to the lab so if you have other labs that’s great this is just the only one I know of so far. If we can’t get the products tested we will just have to prove this another way by getting ourselves tested and now we know how. If you get this testing done - PLEASE SHARE YOUR RESULTS WITH ME!
