Hey Miami. Before we get into the weekend, we need to talk about something happening right now.
Protests against federal immigration enforcement have been erupting across the country following two fatal shootings by federal agents in Minneapolis last weekend. Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, and Renee Good, a mother, were both killed by federal agents during immigration operations. Video evidence and eyewitness accounts have contradicted official statements from the Department of Homeland Security about what happened.
South Florida is responding. Several protests are planned for this weekend and beyond:
Friday, January 30:
• 12-2pm at FIU Graham Center (hosted by Young Democratic Socialists of America/ICE Breakers FIU)
• 7pm at Torch of Friendship downtown (hosted by Miami DSA/50501 South Florida)
Saturday, January 31:
• 11am-2pm at Torch of Friendship downtown (hosted by Miami Indivisible)
• 10-11:30am in Wilton Manors at 1150 NE 26th St (hosted by Indivisible, repeats Feb 7 and Feb 14)
Ongoing:
• Every Monday starting Jan 26, 4:30-5:30pm in Marathon at 3770 Overseas Hwy (hosted by Middle Keys Democrats)

This summer at @thepinesfireisland has been amazing. Being in the dj booth is my happy place and this year has been no exception. Thank you to everyone who has made my Mon and Wed Low Teas amazing and also to the incredible @bubblesdboob for our Wed Bingo Night. This summer started off with a lot of uncertainties but they always say things happen for a reason. YEAR 9 has been one of my best yet and I can’t wait for YEAR 10.
