From Colorado Springs, C/Lt Col Moody is preparing to commission into the Air Force from Detachment 105, and we want to celebrate her this Senior Sunday.
C/Lt Col Moody will be entering the Air Force as a Force Support Officer (38F). She is currently a student at University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, majoring in Business Administration and Management. Throughout her time as a POC, she has held the positions of Rated Resources Officer, Safety Officer, Delta Deputy Flight Commander (SKO DODOS), and Air Task Force Commander for Det 105A, UCCS’ new Operating Location. She describes being a POC in one word: AWESOME.
As she reflects on her time as a cadet, her favorite memory was the very first UCCS LLAB. With perfect weather, cadets formed up sharply, and the mountains glowing pink in the background, she found herself taking in the moment and realizing a dream fulfilled - helping build Det 105A and creating opportunities for her cadets to succeed. It’s a memory grounded in gratitude and purpose, one that captures her leadership and dedication to those around her.
One thing she will miss the most is the weekly bus rides from UCCS to University of Colorado Boulder. While the bus may not always have been glamorous, it became a place of connection, filled with karaoke, celebrations, potlucks, and plenty of shenanigans. For her, the bus wasn’t just transportation, it was family.
If C/Lt Col Moody could offer advice to cadets, she would share three key lessons:
1. Work hard. Get your stuff done. Don't let other people have more work because you didn't do your share.
2. Don't sugarcoat or beat around the bush. Keep it straight to the point.
3. Take care of your people. You will see everyone again and they will remember how you made them feel.
Detachment 105 holds a special place in her heart, and in her own words: “Det 105 is my family, and I love you all dearly. Wing Mom out!”
On behalf of the whole detachment, we wish C/Lt Col Moody a very successful and decorated career, and may our paths cross again soon.
Detachment 105 was proud to witness the promotion ceremony of now Major Skrla. Maj Skrla has been a dedicated mentor and outstanding example of professionalism for the cadets. His guidance, support, and commitment to developing future officers have made a lasting impact on Detachment 105, as evident by the outstanding number of cadets who spoke about his character and mentorship during the ceremony. Many cadets are better leaders and future officers because of the time and effort Maj Skrla invested in them.
On behalf of Detachment 105, congratulations Maj Skrla on this well earned promotion!
Detachment 105’s seniors had their final LLAB last week! We are incredibly proud of everything they have accomplished throughout their time in the program. We look forward to their commissioning ceremony this weekend!
Last week, Detachment 105’s Color Guard participated in the Bill Bower Park rededication ceremony.
Colonel William Bower was a decorated World War II veteran and one of the historic Doolittle Raiders, whose courage, bravery, and dedication to service helped shape our nation’s history while leaving a lasting impact both in the military and in his community. His legacy continues to inspire future generations of leaders.
Thank you to everyone who made this meaningful event possible, and to our Color Guard for representing Detachment 105 with professionalism and pride.
Congratulations to all the cadets who were recognized for their talent, dedication, and hard work during LLAB 11s End of Semester Award Ceremony. A special congratulations as well to Detachment 105’s Fall 2026 Cadet Command Team: C/Inazu and C/Koprek, and Detachment 105A’s Cadet Command Team: C/Boswell and C/Miller.
Last week, Detachment 105 had the honor of welcoming back its Gold Star Families. These families are the loved ones of service members who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving on active duty. Their continued presence and unwavering support mean a great deal to our cadets and to the entire Detachment 105 community.
Through their extraordinary generosity of time, energy, and financial support, our Gold Star Families have made a lasting impact on countless cadets. The scholarships they provide have helped many students continue through the program and pursue their goals of becoming future Air Force leaders.
Once again, we extend our deepest gratitude to our Gold Star Families for their kindness and selfless generosity. Congratulations as well to the outstanding cadets who were honored to receive these scholarships.
A few of Detachment 105’s outstanding cadets were recognized at CU Boulder’s annual Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine ROTC Tri-Mil Award Ceremony on April 6th. These awards honor exceptional performance and accomplishments across a variety of areas, recognizing both academic excellence and military achievement.
Congratulations to each cadet who was recognized at this year’s Tri-Mil Award Ceremony!
LLAB 10 got cadets out and about practicing FLX (Field Leadership Exercise) scenarios, giving them the opportunity to apply leadership skills, strengthen teamwork, and build confidence in a hands-on environment. Cadets worked through realistic challenges designed to test communication, problem solving, and decision making under pressure.
