The moon makes everyone a poet. If you’re having troubles,
If you’ve given up on happiness,
Or joy, or curiosity, or kindness,
Or the belief in magic,
(Because of grief, because of pain,
Because of a weary heart,)
Please, go sit with the moon
Search for it if you have to,
And if it’s not there, wait,
And be sure to bring something sweet -
Chocolates, or a danish, or a lover,
Or a lollipop wrapped in coloured
Cellophane that crinkles and shines
Like a grandmother’s smile.
It will come, I promise
And it will see you there, waiting,
And when it does,
You’ll find it impossible not to sing.
