By squaring off the shower in this master bathroom, it not only made it feel fresh and current, but more appropriately scaled to the space too. Swipe for the outdated before. đź“· @amybartlam
When I came up with my business name I swapped out the y in styles for an i to represent my first initial. I thought, Designstiles - I’m SO CLEVER. I quickly realized it required way more explaining and spelling correction. And any time someone asks if I selected the name because they think I actually design tiles, it cracks me up. Although a design collaboration with a tile company would be very cool. 📷 @xomelissaphotography
Kick off your shoes kind of weekend! This bedroom got a closet makeover. The previous closet was half the size because of a window that was on the right side of the wall. By eliminating the window, we were able to create a new wall to wall closet, allowing more storage and overall something way prettier to look at. Check out the before when you swipe. đź“· @shelbybournephoto

EPISODE 85: Today we are hanging out in the closet with Irene Lovett, an interior designer based in the San Fernando Valley and a first-generation Mexican-American who has built a career turning other people’s spaces into a true reflection of who they are.
We follow Irene from a 997-square-foot childhood home in Sylmar - the daughter of immigrant parents, a restaurant worker dad and a housekeeper mom - all the way to running her own interior design business with her work being featured on Netflix’s hit show, Nobody Wants This, HGTV, Good Housekeeping, the Wall Street Journal and more.
In this episode we get into it: the design trends people are actually asking for right now, the forever-charged debate of dog parenthood vs. human parenthood, and the very intentional decision to be a family of three while keeping the big family feeling. We also cover what it looks like to grow into your extroversion, with husband and creator of LA IN A MINUTE EVAN LOVETT by your side, how we could all benefit from making eye contact and smiling more on neighborhood walks, and…how maybe we all just need a pot of beans on the stove at all times. 🎧 link in bio 🏠@designstiles
While on a hike in Big Bear, Felix, my son picked up this tree bark and asked if we could bring it home. I was honestly going to toss it but instead I decided to plop it on some coffee table books and call it home decor. Free travel souvenirs, if you will. Swipe for some more cool nature finds that I use as styling accessories.
I heard the news yesterday that L.A’s most famous home is for SALE! The Stahl house (aka case study house #22) is a mid-century modern gem. It’s symbolic of the American Dream, innovation and the California Lifestyle. I was lucky enough to tour it a couple of years ago. No clue if tours will continue but let’s all wish it goes to a responsible buyer. 🤞🏻
