Closing out the day with another beautiful space designed by Sierra at @uniekinteriors . In addition to her design work, Sierra is a wife and a mom of two boys. When she's not designing, she's spending time with family or reupholstering furniture. You can learn more about her work and follow her design work online at @uniekinteriors ♥️

Good morning! I wanted to share the beautiful work of Sierra Glasgow of @uniekinteriors today. Sierra is the founder of Uniek Interiors, a five- star design studio that serves Hampton Roads and beyond.  Sierra is a design professional and furniture upholsterer who works to help women, “be bold and unapologetically beautiful in their homes by helping them make confident decisions in using bold colors, prints, and culture”. I’m going to share some more of her work up in the stories and later today, but in the meantime give Sierra a follow at @uniekinteriors ❤️

♥️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️June is Pride Month and I just wanted to share a little update. For the past year I’ve been getting to understand and know myself better (yay therapy!) and part of that understanding has been around gender. Coming out can be complicated and layered, but I wanted to share that I’m non-binary and don’t use she/her pronouns anymore- I just go by Grace. No pronouns aside from my name is what feels best for me. I’m unpacking all the ways I’ve gendered myself and my work over the years, but mostly I’m feeling really happy to understand myself better ♥️. So as much as coming out sometimes feel complicated and annoying (I wish gender and sexuality weren’t assumed and didn’t require a formal coming out), I’m *proud* to be me and to share a little bit more of myself here. Still the same Grace, still a bird and animal nerd, still following around cats trying to get them to hug me. Thanks for listening. Xoxo, Grace ♥️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

Native Love (@nativelovestories ) is multimedia art project and movement to reclaim Indigenous love stories.⁣ ⁣ When looking specifically for images of Native love, simple web produce results of non-Natives “playing Indian” which further exacerbate harmful stereotypes. Those searches show a severe lack of cultural knowledge, cultural protocol, contemporary contexts, and range of lifeways within Indigenous communities.⁣ ⁣ The good news is that one way we can change the norm and restore, reclaim, renew, and re-energize our narratives is through art made by our own communities!⁣ ⁣ The Native Love Project (@nativelovestories ) is produced by Indigenous-owned and operated creative agency and production company, Kanion (@kanionpro ). ⁣ ⁣ Co-owners and creative directors of Kanion, @tomaskarmelo and @siera.amaya , a husband and wife team, have launched the project to celebrate, uplift, and encourage healthy relationships within Native Country! ⁣ ⁣ Tomás Karmelo Amaya, A:shiwi, Ráramuri, and Yoeme, is a filmmaker, creative director, writer and visual artist. Siera Begaye Amaya, Diné, is a producer, artist, model, and wellness advocate. They live in Phoenix, AZ with their daughter Haseya.⁣ ⁣ The two started developing the project shortly after they met for the first time at the Oceti Sakowin Resistance Camp in Standing Rock, ND in 2016. ⁣ ⁣ The first phase of the project includes a portrait and short film series which will then culminate into a book and a longer format film in phase two.⁣ ⁣ Please follow @nativelovestories to learn more about the project!⁣ ⁣ Powered by KANION (@kanionpro )⁣ An Indigenous Storytelling Collective⁣ ⁣ Co-Founders / Creative Directors⁣ Tomas Karmelo Amaya⁣ A:shiwi | Raramuri | Yoeme⁣ (@tomaskarmelo )⁣ ⁣ Siera Begaye Amaya ⁣ (@siera.amaya )⁣ Dine (Navajo)⁣ ⁣ Cover Photo⁣ Sweetheart Dancers⁣⁣ Sean Snyder⁣ Southern Ute | Navajo⁣ @seanqsnyder ⁣ ⁣ Adrian Stevens⁣ Northern Ute | Shoshone-Bannock | San Carlos Apache⁣ @ad.matthias ⁣ ⁣ Music By⁣ Olivia Komahcheet⁣ Comanche | Otoe⁣ @oliviakomahcheet ⁣ ⁣ Powered by KANION (@kanionpro )⁣ An Indigenous Storytelling Collective⁣ ⁣ #NativeLoveStories #NativeJoy #IndigenousLove #SelfLove #Snaggin

It’s been a grueling year. Emotionally and health-wise. Almost everyone in our life (human and pet) has been diagnosed with something scary and overwhelming and I don’t know when it will let up again. For now the year feels like a damp winter coat that I can’t take off yet. I’m looking for the light and can’t find it, but I know it will poke its head out again one day. But for today there is this: a snowy walk in the woods with birds and dogs and someone I love very much. Sending you all love, good health and safe holidays with you and the ones you love. Xo, Grace ♥️

Good morning! Today I am thrilled because my new book, Collective Wisdom, is officially out and in stores! Collective Wisdom Collective is a collection of interviews, conversations and portraits of over 100 women between the ages of 50-106. This book is chock-full of lessons, advice and much needed insight from a diverse group of women. Over 70% of the book celebrates women of color, disabled women, queer and trans women. From Olympic athletes and award-winning film makers to beloved community leaders and activists, Collective Wisdom celebrates the stories of those who have been there and know the road Collective Wisdom also celebrates the importance of intergenerational connections between women, with interviews conducted by daughters, friends, mentors, and colleagues. Collective Wisdom was and is a community project and 50% of the book’s profits will be shared with the women in its pages in perpetuity. ♥️ You can order copies worldwide (including signed and personalized copies, great for gifts!) in the link in my bio. Please spread the word if you can. Thank you! Xo, Grace #collectivewisdombook

Jess here! (@NestWithJess ) Thank you to @grace__bonney and this wonderful design loving community for allowing me to share my home. I’ve been a homeschool mom for a decade and I only recently decided to take the leap into being a creative. I wanted to do something, create something that my kids will be proud of one day. I battle imposter syndrome daily, since I’m not a trained designer and I don’t have a huge following. And I only recently began to see designers that look like me. But I continue to design because creating spaces is how I put beauty into the world. And I’m truly grateful to have this community to share these designs. Thank you! ☺️❤️ #NestWithJess #AfroSouthernHome #blackinteriordesigner #blackinteriordesigners #blackhomebloggers #blackhomeblogger #shareblackspaces #blkandhome

Thank you so much for welcoming me to the Design Sponge community these last two days. I’ve had a wonderful time sharing my home and inspiration. I hope to see you over @NestWithJess where I’m continuing to create spaces that celebrate both Black & Southern culture. I’m currently creating a play space for the youngest of our 6 kids. I’ve been inspired by the landscapes of Africa and I’m loving how it’s coming along. Swipe to see the current progress and the room when we first purchased our home. It’s a testament to the power of beautiful paint. ☺️ #NestWithJess #AfroSouthernHome #blackhomebloggers #blackhomeblogger #shareblackspaces #blkandhome #shareyourclare #blackinteriordesigner #blackinteriordesigners

With our studies of the Gullah Geechee, my children and I have been listening to an audiobook, Root Magic by @EdenRoycebooks It’s a children’s historical fiction that brings Gullah Geechee culture to life in a captivating story. When we listen, I encourage my children to imagine the surroundings as the reader narrates. And I can’t help but get drawn in to the imagery of the rice fields and swaying palms as I listen. So when i spotted this wallpaper, I knew I wanted it in our home in a big way. When I walk into this nook in our kitchen, I’m instantly transported to the South Carolina island and reminded of the beauty and strength and welcoming nature of the Gullah Geechee. @NestWithJess #NestWithJess #AfroSouthernHome #blackinteriordesigner #blackinteriordesigners #shareblackspces #blkandhome #blackhomebloggers #blackhomeblogger #makinghome #mywholehome
