Last week, we celebrated 25 years of DesignInc and 120 years of continuous practice in Melbourne - from our grassroots beginnings as Eggleston Macdonald Secomb to where we are today. It was a great night with the collaborators, clients, and staff who make this studio what it is.

The Australian Institute of Architects has released the 2026 Victorian Architecture Awards shortlist. We're pleased to have two projects recognised:
Maribyrnong Civic Precinct and Community Hub in the Heritage and Sustainable Architecture categories.
Caulfield Grammar School Senior School Teaching and Learning Building (in collaboration with @3xnarchitects ) in the Sustainable Architecture Category.

We welcomed second-year Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) students to our studio as part of their Interior Detailing subject, led by tutor and our very own Project Architect, Jacqui Choo.
Working on their project "Between Work & Wellbeing", students are rethinking workplace wet areas as spaces of transition, care, and everyday use. During the visit they carried out a site investigation and explored our material library, translating ideas into practical material selection and construction detailing.

The opening of @wiyal_primary_school in Plumpton, which is part of the New Schools 2026 bundle by @brand.architects.australia and @designinc_melb , was a fantastic milestone for the community.
We were fortunate to have Premier Hon. @jacintaallanmp and Deputy Premier & Minister for Education Hon. @bencarrollmp attend the celebration and tour the new facilities.
It has been a privilege to collaborate with the Wurundjeri Land Council, VAEIA @koorieeducation , and First Nations artist Hayden Roberts @fastlanedesignsartwork to help shape a built environment that teaches and reflects the Aboriginal culture unique to this Country.
