The Palace of the Parliament- a stupidly big building. It’s the world’s heaviest and 2nd largest government building. A Ceauşescu project that started in the early 80’s and wasn’t fully finished until 2004 over 20 years after his execution. It had over 1000 rooms and 2800 chandeliers. Everything is Romanian made (except for a small amount of gifted marble and the doors to one room, by Iran and Zaire respectively).
Bram Castle - aka Dracula’s Castle. Neither Vlad nor Bram Stoker ever visited here and it only bares a passing resemblance to the one in the book, but marketing works so here we are.
It’s actually got a fascinating history around the formation of Romania as part of the Treaty of Paris, which wouldn’t have happened if not for Queen Marie convincing her husband to side with the Allies in WWI and then turning up to Paris herself to convince them to unify the Romanian speaking areas into Romania.
