As accessory developed to ensure that all 24 kilos of our 3-in-1 chair be easily displaced (together) without lifting or separation of component chairs, a low H-shaped caster-equipped platform allows a complete MATRJOSKA set to be pushed completely under a table or worktop, the very reason the chair is designed with a low back.
Its casters are suitable for smooth floor coverings, whether mineral, ligneous or synthetic (such as are typically specified for bedrooms in the medical and hospitality sectors) but not for pile carpet.
Five, with a loading capacity of over 250kg and set into the underside of the VALCHROMAT sandwich construction, allow the unit to swivel on its central axis or move in any direction.
The increase in seating height is minimal (+28mm) meaning that nesting stacks of MATRJOSKA can remain on their platform and still be used conveniently as chairs, whether 3-in-1, 2-in-1 or singly.
Indeed the caster-equipped platform further multiplies the variety, intrinsic to MATRJOSKA, of potential bespoke seating heights — which comfort is bound to appeal to individual of certain generations.
The idea for this platform came from observing the palpable difficulty that elderly relatives had in drawing their own chairs closer to the table at meal times. I swiftly devised a U-shaped platform and fitted it with small commercially-available casters. Such was their joy that I had to start on a second item.... Don’t shout or wave it about, or others will want one too !
