I legit took the “rule book” and tossed it right out the window for this audition!

I gambled, went pretty big with my choices and it paid off. I’ve auditioned for various roles on SVU for 2 years, but with this one I just felt like, “f*%k it. I’m doing everything how I want to do it.” I took what little bit of character background I had and ran with it. Given the show itself along with said information; I decided to play Alex like an absolute scumbag for my self tape.

I knew Alex is a bar tender always on the go who was fired for being innapropiate with females. With that I chose that his inappropriate behavior is cuz he sells drugs to patrons; not cuz he’s a playboy. I play him like he’s been awake all night bar tending and probably did plenty of ❄️ to stay awake.

The biggest choice I made? Don’t think like an actor. What I really did was put myself in the mind of the casting director. They’ve already watched a ton of tapes; all probably feeling the same to boot. I figured they’ve seen me play it safe and small in all my other auditions so why not go for something entirely different??
