Summer intensive season is almost here ☀️✨
A few reminders for young dancers preparing for the weeks ahead:
• Break in your shoes early
• Pack extra tights, toe tape, and warmups
• Bring a reusable water bottle and snacks
• Prioritize sleep and recovery
• Journal corrections and combinations
• Be open to new teachers and experiences
Most importantly, remember that everyone feels nervous at first. Growth comes from showing up every day ready to learn 💛

From the royal courts of the 1700s to the modern stage, ballet costumes have evolved dramatically over time 🩰
In the 1700s, ballet dancers performed in elaborate court clothing—heavy gowns, wigs, masks, and heeled shoes—reflecting the aristocratic roots of ballet in European royal courts. Movement was formal and restrained, as costumes were designed more for appearance and status than athleticism.
By the Romantic era, flowing white tulle in Giselle and La Sylphide created the iconic ethereal ballerina image. The classical period brought structured tutus in Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, highlighting precision and technique.
Today, ballet costumes range from traditional tutus to sleek contemporary designs and innovative fabrics that support greater freedom of movement and storytelling.
Ballet costumes tell the story of ballet itself—from court entertainment to the powerful, athletic art form we see on stage today.
