For some reason there is draft i never posted. This created over 2 years ago after spending the entire afternoon at Red Rocks on my last few days in New Zealand.
Looking at this, i remember I always came here to rest after spending entire weeks working, they got beautiful golden hours during the sunset.
Its cold there but it heals me.
Alot of things cleared out of my mind by just sitting down here to think or not even thinking at all.
Here was the very first place i visited, a great friend and padre Rocca, took us there for a short walks when we just arrived in Wellington.
I miss this city , i miss everyone i met along the way. Hope everyone is well.
Three days of hands-on learning, curiosity, and collaboration at Cave Academy ID @ JAFF Market 2025 have come to an uplifting close.
From introduction to on-set VFX data acquisition, dipping into compositing on Nuke, to lighting up scenes with Katana, we’ve built strong foundations together for more explorations to come!

Here is a shot that we did a wee while ago in MPC Montreal for The Martian. My very first sci-fi film i ever worked on.
After his potato diets and scavenging. This is the scene where Mark Watney(Matt Damon) attempting to launch the rocket alone to go back to the Station after being stuck in Mars.
I love the team that i worked for in this show.

Other than animation and camera works. There is so much cool work produced by FX, Light, and Environment team
The main thing we were looking for was the scale of the shots, because its easy to make them to look like miniature and when we comp the explosions, the first thing we would like to feel the strenght of the impact as well as the break up between each explosions. Plus tonnes of small details that you have to squint your eyes like most asians to sees it.
Who remember this devastating scene after everyone brought back to life again? And after this scene we are witnessing one of the best battle moment as well as the expected-depressing moment of Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Back to the good ‘ol projects that was done in 2016-2017. Also, War for the Planet of the Apes was my first show at Weta
On these shots, we have to add the crowds to the footage, the challenge for me was actually to place CG crowds into running actors and vehicle. In someshots we combined both CG and footage elements of crowd. We even replaced some of real soldier with CGI
Could you spot the difference between real and CG crowds? If you cant, then i am doing a great job as compositor to hides them. 🥹🥹🥹
On top of that, we are adding extra atmospheric smokes and plumes with some set extension for the backgrounds. And of course Caesar which our focus was to give him realistic contacts with his environment surround him.
I couldnt tell you the proud feeling when actually able to work on such an iconic movie with the studio that put my jaw to the floor when i watch Planet of the Apes.
Reminiscences of the End Game, in this scenes we have to place digital wounds on RDJ’s face without affecting the expression of the act, and there was alot of discussion on how the wound should look like, after few months process and this is how we ended up.
I remember i was dreaming about the wounds in my sleep 🫠😅
Also,Did you know the amount of blood shown in a movie will affect the overall MPAA ratings ?
