MAN MADE MEN - Contact Theatre
I WONDER
I wonder what kind of man my son thinks I am
Am i this random dude whos gives him food
Then tucks him into bed
Or this funny bloke who'll crack a joke
And replay the moment in his head
Maybe its quite sad and
He can see this lost lad
That tries his best to be a father
A shifty guy who never cries
Even though you see life's getting harder
I mean he could see it all through a scientific lens
A biological male who struggles to maintain friends
This old codga who doesnt get the trends
The scruffy gentleman who somehow made it out the ends
I wonder if look back and its all a blur
He’ll laugh that he’d call me pops
But never sir
Then He’ll ask his mum if i was ever a good husband to her
Hopefully she’d reply saying your dad was the best
And Knowing him he’d interview his grandma next
Then my mother would say
My little man was so great
The kind of bloke who’d give you the food off his plate
Really kept his cool was never irate
But you could see in his eyes he’d longed for an escape
Maybe that’s what this ramble is
A plea from a father
To his wonderful kid
Who dreams that they’ll love will always feel like bliss
So since I worry for the answer I’ll just ask this
What kind of man would I be if you didn’t exist

‘Yesterday’
A poem @demereecee wrote in my cold attic abode as I played guitar. We eagerly yondered to the park to catch the rays. We were thinking of starting a ‘4 hour Thursday’ series, where like this, we see what we come up with in 4 hours and share it !
It was so lovely to be back in the spirit of Man Made Men and our beautifully creative time at @contactmcr doing the Creatively Minded Men project.
Go follow Demreece if you haven’t, and sign up to CMM for next years cohort if you are interested in doing this sort of thing on a stage !!!
The People's Poem - 01
This is the first poem in a series titled: The People's Poems
Which is a series of poems written by me with words given by you.
Big thank you to everyone that took part this time round!
