This isn’t an award. It’s a key. 🔑
The Boys & Girls Club wasn’t just a building for me — it was home. My safe place. A place where everything I walked through outside lost its power once I stepped inside. I pray this key unlocks something bigger in every Club, for every kid who just needs someone to say “I see you… and you matter.”

From being selected to helping make selections, this kid from Auburn, Alabama has come a long way. To every young man hearing their name called this weekend: before any stage, any spotlight, any round number — He already called yours.

This weekend I had the opportunity to pour into my fellow student athletes. Not as a Hall of Famer. Not as a Former Pro. Just as someone who’s been where they are — and knows what it’s like when nobody asks how you’re REALLY doing.
That’s what Feast & Fellowship created space for. The person behind the sport. The real conversation that usually never happens.
Grateful to be the host for the inaugural series at my alma mater Troy University. This is something every student athlete needs at every school.

Yesterday I came across some videos my Broncos teammates made back in 2016 when DWare Day was first established.
Peyton. DT. It’s crazy how much has changed in 10 years. Time is such a gift.

Throwing it back to this day 10 years ago.
April 19, 2016. Started at the Capitol Building in Montgomery — the Governor held a special proclamation ceremony and I addressed a joint session of the Alabama Legislature.
Ended the day at Troy. Distinguished Leadership Award. Key to the city.

10 years ago today, DeMarcus Ware Day was established in the great state of Alabama. In scripture, 10 represents divine order, completeness, and responsibility. And one of our greatest responsibilities is each other.
So we kicked off with Feast & Fellowship (@thefeastseries ) for Troy student-athletes.
Stepped into the football meeting room and left them with one message — time. Use it wisely, because all you have is the season you’re in.
Stopped by the new baseball facility and threw the first pitch (I loved baseball before football).
Was given the opportunity to host a private advance screening of #MichaelMovie for Troy student-athletes (thanks @lionsgate ).
Last but not least, I had to get in front of the Club kids — Bo Jackson did that for me when I was young and I’ve never forgotten it.
Alabama born and bred. Happy DWare Day to the state that raised me. The least I can do is walk back into every room I get the keys to and remind the people in it — you matter. You are enough. And Jesus loves you. That’s the message. That’s always been the message. 🙏🏾👊🏿
