Oh, the places you’ll go
I dedicated my senior thesis to documenting queer struggles, feminist issues, the plight of state corruption, police brutality, and the interpersonal struggles that trivialize unity and mobilization of oppressed classes. I gave special attention to Nigerian and African American activists in EndSARS and BLM, who I feel so deeply for.
My degree in Politics and African Amerian studies has enlightened me. It’s given me the words to exclaim what l’ve been feeling since a child. This degree is accompanied by rage, ache, helplessness, despair, ego, corruption, silence, loneliness, and prejudice— now channeled into ascension, community, knowledge, resources, consideration, unity, healing, and hope. I have hope. I will use this degree to honor those who do not share the same privileges that I do. May I never lose the values that make me human.
I love the person I’ve become at Princeton and the friends that helped me get to this moment, I couldn’t be more grateful 🥂
