God is so amazing that when the walls did fall, they didn’t crush His people. Yesterday was mayhem, but we must remain steady in what God said and let our shout be translated through OUR voting in November. To the #Birmingham foot soldiers of 1963 and our Freedom Manor seniors who stood ten toes down yesterday - thank you, we are forever indebted to you. One article called the protest “unusual” because of where it took place but these are not usual times and where we show up ++ how we show up matters more than ever. Everybody’s march around the walls will look different, but we all have to march somehow. Because call me crazy but I don’t think yesterday’s flood was by happenstance I believe God was reminding us that there is STILL a power seated higher. We got us - cause He got us. ExperiencED supernatural release, divine alignment, and doors opening that no one could shut. Although this moment feels different, it also feels like it’s ours. The prophet asked the widow woman, Sister, what do you have in the house? … She said just a little oil … and that little went a long way. That’s the reminder - we already have everything we need to transform our communities. Whatever you have in your hand … it’s time to use it. Listen … this post might take us a little down the street and around the corner, but it’s been a long weekend so give me grace … here are my immediate thoughts on recent news. I told Fenika I think faith made us hopeful that the Supreme Court would finally do the right thing in this case because of the safe guards that were in place to 2030 … but grandmama said you can’t do right when it ain’t in you. So Alabama … we know what time it is now. We’ve gotta beat ‘em at the ballot box. As disappointing as this is, this isn’t defeat … it’s OUR defining moment. Everybody has to ask themselves - how do I want to show up? Republicans would rather spend nearly $5 million on an election nobody asked for while rural hospitals are closing left and right. How do you want to show up? CD2 isn’t even majority Black yet the voters not just Black folks elected Rep. Shomari Figures to represent them in Congress. And now they are essentially saying your vote is invalid. Montgomery. Tuskegee. Mobile. How do you want to show up? In this season, representation won’t be given … it’s going to have to be fought for … prayer for … cried for. marched for. dragged for and stretched for. Everybody is asking what’s next. This Saturday is a clarion call to return to where it all started … Alabama. Saturday morning we’re calling on faith leaders from across this nation to meet us on the bridge in Selma at 9a and then in Montgomery at 1p for a national rally +++ mass mobilization effort. And then on Tuesday, all roads lead to the polls for primary elections. And then in November … I feel like something special is about to happen in our state. But it requires all of US to show up. Things are escalating. Our Alabama State Organizing Manager, Dee Reed, is being removed from the Alabama State House for standing up against attacks on Black political power. Alabama lawmakers are already moving to redraw maps designed to erase Black representation and dilute our voices. We will not stand by while our communities are silenced, ignored, and gerrymandered out of power. As lawmakers opened a special legislative session, we joined hundreds of residents and local organizers at the Alabama State House to protest proposed redistricting changes that could further dilute Black voting power. This isn’t happening in a vacuum. After years of legal battles, courts have already ruled that previous district maps failed to properly represent Black voters. Instead of fixing that harm, lawmakers are now advancing new proposals that risk deepening it. Let’s be clear: this is an attack on our power. This isn’t just politics. It’s about fairness.
