It is Southland College Prep Charter High School Tradition that I charged with the enjoyable task of teaching a ballroom dance to the Senior class to dance at the prom. This year it’s the Cha Cha. The verdict is in… 4th Place in the IHSA Division 1A State Championship! Didn’t take Top 3, but we are 4th in the State!!! To go from never ever competing to 4th Place in the entire State of Illinois is simply insane!!!!!! I could not be more prouder of my Dance Babies!! They left their heart on the Marley floor at Grossinger Motors Arena! Congratulations to all my loves for a phenomenal first time competitive dance season!!!! You are FOREVER CHAMPS in my book!!! #SouthlandProud

I have been charged this year with coaching our newly created IHSA Competitive Dance Team at Southland College Prep Charter High School. In this inaugural year of Competitive Dance, we have placed in the Top Three for every single IHSA Division 1A dance competition, 1st Place in the NDA Regional Dance Alliance (RDA) Competition, and earned a National Bid in the National Dance Alliance (NDA) to compete in Orlando, Florida, while EVERY Dancer maintained HIGH academic eligibility throughout the season. and NOW… ON to IHSA Sectionals tomorrow, to compete for a spot to advance to the the Illinois IHSA State Championship next week. Not sure if this has ever been done in the first competition year of any other high school, but we are history in the making! I am #Southlandproud , along with my “partner in crime” Asst.
