🔮 - 2nd slide made in @touchdesigner the “bodies dance in digital ruins” quote is actually from someone’s Goodread review (lol) of Raving by McKenzie Wark 🩷📖 For the past few weeks, its stuck with me as ive traversed dance floors and subways and classrooms… and i guess it turned into this dump. so lately,, ive been very fascinated with the juxtaposition of hyper-organic//human expressions in a hyper-digital//synthetic spaces. nowadays,,, we surrounded by so many man-made emulations of nature that sometimes, it’s hard to tell apart what’s digital and what’s human. creating and showcasing art now requires us to constantly interrogate the ways that the raw human sound//emotions are turned into the digital signals//artifacts that amplify and filter it. everything starts blending together until you’re left asking…who is the body and which is the digital ruin? xoxo, J

hello? it’s me— WE’RE GOING TO GRAD SCHOOL💥👾 - it’s taken me a while to share this exciting news,,, given the not-so-exciting events going down in our communities + across the world… ❤️‍🩹🫂 but for those who are curious… i did indeed commit to the program at BerkleeNYC ! I’ll be studying in the 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 + 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 (𝗟𝗠𝗣𝗗) 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺, and learning the technical, creative, and management skills behind curating events. My own focus of study will be telling QTBIPOC stories thru multidisciplinary, immersive experiences. re: funding— i secured almost double my original scholarship thru the school (shoutout to the program staff who fought for me) AND i was awarded a BIPOC Access scholarship from the @pointfoundation !!! 🙇🏻‍♂️🌱 beyond grateful. there’s still much to do— relocating to a new city is no joke 😮‍💨 I’m on the hunt for an apartment ++ work/ dj gigs! plzzzz send me any leads//advice u may have 💓👾 feels absolutely unreal that i’ll be living in another city in just two months… LA- I love you. You are my forever home. 🫀🤞 I’ll be back soon. NY- Can’t wait to be in you! So much to learn + do. boots ON. thinking cap ON. 🤓📝 let’s go.
