Opening today 2-6pm 🧡 PlayTime by Katharina Ruhm, our special guest project for this year’s edition @variousothersmunich It is only since the advent of industrial glass production in the early 20th century that it became possible to produce glass free of inclusions and ripples. This technological development enforced the phantasma of glass as a fully transparent and ‘pure’ medium that can easily make any consciousness of its materiality disappear. It also set the path for the use of glass in the endless series of screens that shape our contemporary reality: modern life is a life through glass. Opening this Saturday: Undertow, the second solo exhibition by Iran-born, New York-based artist Maryam Hoseini. In Undertow, bodies stretch, fold, and reassemble across a series of multi-panel, and slitted surfaces, caught in a field where gravity is uncertain and orientation cannot be fixed. Forms slip between figure and landscape, ornament and anatomy, surface and depth. The title names a force that is not immediately visible: a pull beneath the surface, steady and insistent. These paintings were made in the shadow of war unfolding in the artist’s home country. They register its pressure as a kind of spatial and psychic dislocation. Final week on view ❤️‍🔥 Behrang Karimi Malen, Denken, Handeln 27.03. – 08.05.2026🔚 ... What is shown here stands against the totalitarian and the evidence-obsessed, it pushes toward pluralistic spaces of thought. You are right, these are chapters that depict human nature in all its difficulty and failure. As if drawn from narratives, of the right and the wrong, of expectation and the longing to make the phenomenal more graspable. Small excerpts beneath a passe-partout. The eyes wish for it, of course, but the conceivable is barely tangible in the corridor. You are right, the spoken is pleasant because it dissipates and the written remains indebted to the imagined. … Text (excerpt): Behrang Karimi Images: Behrang Karimi, für immer Gast, 2026 Gouache on paper, 38.5 x 30 Behrang Karimi, Error, 2026 Gouache and pencil on paper, 38.5 x 30 Behrang Karimi, spaeaking loud saying nothing, 2026 Gouache and pencil on paper, 38.5 x 30 Behrang Karimi, Bückling, 2026 Gouache and pencil on paper, 38.5 x 30 #behrangkarimi @galeriekhoshbakht @maureenpaley @tramp.s @ermesermes

We are delighted to announce Undertow, the second solo exhibition by Iran-born, New York-based artist Maryam Hoseini. 🪁 The exhibition brings together a new series of multi-panel paintings that explore the concept of becoming through duration, sequence, and fragmentation, building on Hoseini’s recent presentation at @artbasel Qatar with @greenartgallerydubai Hoseini’s practice is rooted in liminality, hybridity, and dissonance: conditions in which identity, memory, and presence are continually reconfigured across geographies, genders, and languages. Figures operate simultaneously as bodily forms and structural elements. Sensuality and violence remain entangled, as bodies are both carried by and compressed within the structures that frame them. The opening will take place on Saturday, May 16, from 2–6 p.m., as part of @variousothersmunich The exhibition marks a highlight of our program this year, and we look forward to sharing more with you soon. 🎵 Image: Maryam Hoseini, (detail), 2026 Oil, acrylic, ink and color pencil on wood panel 61 x 137 x 5 cm #maryamhoseini @maryhoseini Photo: @ccbbenton

It’s lovely, coming from Italy, to be welcomed in Munich at the gallery by Behrang Karimi’s sun-drenched, enchanting exhibition 🌝. Behrang Karimi Malen, Denken, Handeln 27.03. – 08.05.2026 … Surface texture plays a significant role, which is especially the case in his smaller works, giving them the quality of reclaimed objects. Something metonymic happens here, as the material sense of reclamation speaks to the workings of memory and myth, and to the understanding that the unconscious and folklore, often entangled and played out in the world of dreams, are interlinked if not inseparable. … Text (excerpt) @studiointernational1893 #behrangkarimi @galeriekhoshbakht @maureenpaley @ermesermes @tramp.s

On view at our booth at Paris Internationale Milano: Maria VMier’s large-scale work ‚Conditions and Variables‘. 🛝➰🔛 As I walk, I fall and catch myself, in a rhythmic sequence. A steady movement into the unknown in manageable sequences. A format far too wide for my studio floor. An exercise in the absence of an overview, drawn from memory. It’s almost spring. I have to leave the apartment and the studio, and return to Munich. The painting lies lightly folded into a package measuring about 60 x 35 x 8 cm in the small storage unit in Two Bridges, Manhattan. Then in the summer, for my final crit at Bard College, I open it in front of the roughly one hundred students and faculty members present. It tells of the temporalities and the material conditions of its creation. The Fold. I don’t have to say anything. It reveals its principle. Nicole Wermers’ ‘Fainter on Posh Crisps’ are on view at our presentation at Paris Internationale Milano. 🍤 In the Fainter on posh crisps series, the variously inclined clay figures form assemblages in combination with a wide variety of crisps bags that oscillate between stabilisation and collapse. In the United Kingdom, unconventionally flavoured snacks are referred to as ‘posh crisps’. These flavours allude to exoticism and the lifestyles of the supposedly higher social classes, and include Pink Himalayan Salt, Asparagus, Balsamic and Truffle, for example. In 1979, French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu stated in his essay, Distinction, that the purchase of a product is never just an individual decision, but always also an expression of habitus, social field and the pursuit of distinction. Compositionally, the crisp packets in Fainter on posh crisps act as amplifiers. They set up tectonic tensions, mirror the inflated skirts of the figures, and heighten the drama of the theatrical collapses born of exhaustion or induced by ennui. Iconographically and formally, Wermers thus links her work to art historical representations depicting inclining, from Bernini’s Theresa to the sculptural work of Lehmbruck, Rosso and Rodin.
