Skin tags
Let’s talk about Skin Tags!
Skin tags, medically known as acrochordons, are small, benign growths that often appear on the skin’s surface.
They are typically flesh-colored or slightly darker and can vary in size. Skin tags are most commonly found in areas where skin rubs against skin, such as the neck, armpits, groin, and eyelids.
While the exact cause of skin tags is not entirely understood, several factors are believed to contribute to their development:
Friction: Repeated rubbing of skin against skin, such as in skin folds, can lead to the formation of skin tags.
Genetics: A family history of skin tags can increase the likelihood of developing them.
Hormonal Changes: Hormonal fluctuations, particularly during pregnancy, can trigger the growth of skin tags.
Obesity: Excess body weight can cause skin folds, increasing friction and the likelihood of skin tags.
Age: Skin tags are more common in middle-aged and older adults.
Diabetes: There is a higher prevalence of skin tags among individuals with diabetes or insulin resistance.
The best treatment option for Skin Tags is consulting a certified aesthetician that knows their onions and I recommend @debbieplufel the owner of Eastwing Esthetics
if you are in Lagos and have this condition, visit them as they would do a very good job in taking them off.
As a formulator I recommend that the best way to treat skin tags is lazering them off which is done by an expert. No skin care products would do that for you! At least I don’t know of any at the moment
