I am super excited for this exhibition, opening Saturday at the Center for Photographic Art! Melanie Walker is a third generation photographic artist. Her expertise is in the area of alternative photographic processes, immersive photographic installations and public art. Nomadic Dreamer is both playful and unsettling: a reimagination of reality through the lens of constructed forms and emotional truths. Exhibition on view: May 16 - June 14, 2026 Opening reception and walk-through: May 16, 4:00 - 6:00pm

Earth Day 2026 is here and to celebrate you can still catch "Landscape ReEnvisioned" in its last week at the Monterey Museum of Art. In addition to my little corner of the gallery, you'll find beautiful multi-layered gum bichromate prints and large-scale books by Brian Taylor, Charlotte Schmid-Maybach's shimmering photo-tapestries, walls of gorgeous cyanotypes by Adrienne Defendi and Vincent Waring and unique photo-sculptures and expandable books by Tony Bellaver. A truly imaginative exhibition curated by Helaine Glick ... this Thursday through Sunday, April 26th, 11am-5pm.

It was rain AND shine at the Monterey Museum of Art Block Party on Saturday. That brought people out - and into the museum. Outside, visual and performing art groups brought the fun, including the Center for Photographic Art Photo Booth / Bus and the ImageMakers' photo hunt. Inside, I had a great time engaging with people about my work in the "Landscape ReEnvisioned" exhibition alongside members of the Monterey Peninsula College Photo Club and Women in Stem group. Another terrific PhotoCarmel 2026 event!

Museum admission is free and I'll be there most of the day if you'd like a short walk- through of the "Landscape ReEnvisioned" exhibition. Visit the MMA website for the indoor and outdoor concert line-up, food vendors, and other fun activities including the famous CPA Photo Booth/Bus. / #photocarmel

PhotoCarmel on Saturday was a swing through the Santa Cruz side of the bay. Starting at the r Blitzer gallery for “Color Stories,” the 2026 Community of Digital Artists Members Exhibition. Super cool how curator Shelby Graham sequenced the work following the visible light spectrum from red to violet. Next was a visit to MK Contemporary Gallery featuring “The Anatomy of Wonder: Photo Sculptures by Michael Garlington.” We were invited into the imaginative world of the renowned Burning Man artist, entering the gallery through his striking photographic “temple,” and stepping into a surreal landscape of layered imagery, symbolism, and wonder. Michael will be giving a talk and portrait shoot at the gallery on April 18th, 4-6pm. Our final stop was the reception for “Turning Points” at the Cabrillo Gallery on the campus of Cabrillo College. Curator Ann Jastrab selected insightful works capturing turning points on a personal, political, economic, or environmental scale. Only on view through this Friday, April 10th. See more upcoming PhotoCarmel events at photography.org. #cabrillogallery #communitydigitalart #photocarmel

Another whirlwind weekend at PhotoCarmel 2026! I made it to two of many First Friday events. First up was Ginger Chih’s lovely pop-up exhibit at Spirals in Pacific Grove. Then over to Sand City for Jacqui Turner’s beautiful “Holding On” exhibition at Temple Garage. This solo show also launches the accompanying book release that features additional photos and stories. (Book signing event in the gallery April 19, 3-5pm) Stay tuned for Saturday’s update.
